With so many sex or love, sex this, and sex that discussions, thought I would throw this one into this lopsided forum.

Report:

The former star of the TV sitcom "Growing Pains" refused to kiss the actress who played his wife in his new movie "Fireproof," he told the "Today" show on Monday.

“I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman,” he told the morning show. So his real wife, actress Chelsea Noble, was the body double for the onscreen kiss.

"So when I’m kissing my wife, we’re actually husband and wife honoring marriage behind the scenes,” Cameron told "Today."

The former child star became an evangelical Christian at 17 and is involved in The Way of the Master ministries.

Honoring one's wife is just what the book of Ephesians talks about. How wonderful to know he walks this out.
    2. morgantj
She looks cute in that picture.
    3. MarkPogue
      @ globalgirl

      Huh?? Honoring the wife?
      Ephesians 5:22-24 (American Standard Version)
22 Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the church, being himself the saviour of the body.

24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.

Is this step up from slavery or equal to?
    4. MadameX
Mark, I guess you cut off there intentionally, because the next couple of verses didn't suit your purposes?
    5. MarkPogue
      @ MadameX

No..not intentionally...but I can counter any Biblical reply with another Biblical reply. It would be an endless list of replies.
Paul contradicts himself time and time again.

Kirk Cameron is a whole bunch of crazy. After hearing what he had to say about evolution I could no longer even watch re-runs of Growing Pains anymore.

    Anyway, Good for him?

    Crockaduck, UP UP AND AWAY!

"Kirk Cameron is a whole bunch of crazy"

      I second that.
  4. bradhart
Its Kirk Cameron a complete has been I am surprised anyone cares.
    1. legbamel
My first thought was, "How the heck did he get into a movie?" I think that, if he and/or his wife can't take getting physical while acting, they should both look at other career options or get contracts with Disney for voice-over work.
  5. drjay1966
    Oh gee, I'm really impressed....

Just when I thought nothing else could shock me!

The 12 step plan went to his head.
  9. Arcticulates
Good for him... His wife is a blessed woman!
    1. TheBigRuski
Yep...and I'm sure the marriage is blessed as well!
  10. RMania
So he only agreed to penetration?
  11. luvikavi
wow that is impressive. I read somewhere that he got kicked off of growing pains because they couldn't handle his behavior or something like that.
  12. DrowseyMonkey
    The guy's a loon.
  13. drjay1966
I can only hope that, as a good fundamentalist, he will continue to follow the words of the Bible when he and his loving wife decide to sell their daughters into slavery:

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
    1. DrowseyMonkey
      lol ... you're feisty tonight.
    2. DrowseyMonkey
Okay, I just watched that banana video , LMAO...

Actually, it just makes me sad.
    3. cooper
timethief: The only ting I have to say to that is you have got to be kidding.

      Yea a loon for sure.
  14. cooper
He is a loon. I saw him one night on some late night talk talk, and he is a crazy. Never saw growing pains.

I don't blame him on the kissing thing though, kissing is kind of personal and I don't blame him for not wanting his lips to touch just any old person.
    1. timethief
      @cooper
Click the first link in my comment above, watch the banana youtube (it's short) and get ready to split a gut.
    2. timethief
      duplicate removed
    3. DrowseyMonkey
cooper yes, I said loon too and I remember a few times I've seen him in interviews and I'm thinking he may even have a mental health issue. Either way, as an actor you sometimes have to kiss ... it's not like he's doing porn. And lots of actors don't do those types of scenes simply because it's not always required.

Besides, who's calling him to star in a movie? umm...NO ONE.

      Loon.
  15. RenalFailure
Funny... I'll only kiss women in movies who aren't my wife.
  16. polybore
Many, many thanks for making polybore aware of this. Just popped in past www.wayofthemaster.com/

That is the funniest web site I have ever seen (wipes away tear). Sheer accidental comic genius, the best kind. Who is that guy with the tash and where is that accent from?
    1. DrowseyMonkey
lol .. no kidding. Did you watch the banana video TT posted above?

I thought the accent was Australian.
    2. polybore
I've checked out TT's links. This just gets better and better. Turns out the mustacheoed fellow is Ray Comfort and he is originally from New Zeland, I'm surprised I did not spot his accent I guess he has been abroad for a while. Can hear it plane as day now I know, lol.

Kirk Cameron is the second coming of the antichrist. He sucks and he's a psycho.
    1. globalgirl
      Yup, you are jealous.
  18. Hoeno
Yeah, the way of the master site is so intriguing in an ''I can't believe this'' kind of way that JD went through every single one of Kirk's articles, picking out the strangest quotes that he thought were funny and did a post on them. Every time I walked through the room he was yelling something like ''Listen to this...he's actually talking about doing magic tricks for kids to evangelize to them!'' Growing Pains is ruined for me too, I think.

The banana has been labelled the 'Atheist's Nightmare' by some Christians (most notably Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron) who draw parallels between many aspects of the fruit (such as its overall shape and the way the peel changes colour as it ripens to indicate when it can be eaten) with those of a soda-can as proof that it has been intelligently designed. It has been pointed out however that it is only the highly cultivated and altered banana that exhibits most of these characteristics, and not the naturally occurring variety from which it is derived.

In regards to his kissing another woman...
    Maybe he's a germaphobe???
  20. MadameX
This is a very telling discussion. The fact that so many people want to step forward and say that it's weird (or some variation on that term) for a married man to decline to kiss a woman other than his wife says something very significant about the society we live in and our mindset...and none of it is good.
    1. legbamel
It's not that I think he should kiss other women on principle, I just think that it's an integral part of acting in movies these days. It's career suicide, and about making his personal relationship an issue in his workplace. (I realize that he's not got an exactly smokin' hot career as it is, but if he wants to take roles where love scenes were specified in the script, he doesn't get to balk when the time comes.)
    2. pumpkinlights
MadameX, no one is saying he should cheat on his wife. We are talking about an actor attempting to act.
  21. dosyrosie
I think that it is a very honorable thing to do and it wouldn't occur to me that my husband wouldn't live by the same rule!!
And this guy, surrounded by what must be alot of pressure, particularly in his line of work, to break his rule, must take a strong will.

    Big Cheer for him!!
  22. bloggernoob
that's the corniest and craziest thing i've ever heard. makes me want to barf.
  23. JaydenVasara
kind of RIDICULOUS. if you can't separate fiction from reality (ie, acting), don't be an actor.
  24. Onchong
Come on guys, he is a practicing Christian and that is his strong conviction, something that he will die for!
    1. legbamel
Then why did he agree to star in a film wherein he is called upon to kiss someone else?
  25. farangrakthai
    Right, he does not kiss.
    Prostitutes don't either...
  26. ryam
Ridiculous... guess that's why he no longer has a career.

Actors act. Maybe he has a problem separating acting from the real thing, and doesn't trust himself to stay loyal throughout the process.
    1. TheBigRuski
      No longer has a career?

      www.fireproofthemovie.com/

...released 2008 a few weeks ago.
    2. lotusb
Thats not a mainstream movie, it's a Christian movie. Everyone has a different level of sucess, but I think ryam meant a hollywood career. Cameron seems to be a very happy person, but his method of acting and living dosen't meant it's the RIGHT way of acting or living.
    3. ryam
Sorry. I meant a successful career.

I don't think that one new low budget project, which has performed surprisingly well, is enough to say that Kirk is successful in his career.

Anyway, back to topic. An actor should be able to commit to doing everything that the movie or director requires, especially since most actors review the script before accepting offers.

And it was kind of surprising that Kirk would actually make demands, such as that he would only kiss his wife, and that the producers agreed. Guess they didn't have enough money to get someone more professional.
    4. TheBigRuski
You mean Hollywood is the center of the universe?
    5. lotusb
No. I mean to each his own. I don't think he's some prime example just because he dosen't kiss on screen. Those are HIS morals...not everyone thinks thats the way to go.
    6. MadameX
Nope, that's true. A lot of people seem to think the "way to go" is to rack up dozens or even hundreds of "lovers", many of whose names they don't even remember (or learn). It's precisely the way so much of the rest of the world behaves that makes this look like a "prime example".
    7. DrowseyMonkey
Madam X - I'm so glad you're not judgmental, you know, like how you say other people are. It's refreshing.
  27. lotusb
Thats a little silly. Acting requires commiting yourself to a part, there is nothing wrong with kissing for a scene. I think some people take the Jesus-parade a bit too far.
  28. calladus
Hollywood is the center of the universe only if you happen to be a major movie star. The center of the universe for Cameron is apparently Albany Georgia.

But on the plus side, Cameron doesn't have to worry about all those paparazzi! That's gotta be a plus!
  29. pinklatex
Kirk Cameron is creepy regardless. He's got that touched look in his Stepford wife eyes.
  30. pointlessbanter
Screw him he ruined Growing Pains.
    1. MarkPogue
      @ onliner

      "your own demise inevitable"

Demise??? What do you mean by that? The demise of Atheism?

Did any atheists here ask..."Hey all you Christians, why are you judging other people???"
    2. freeatlast
Mr. Mark Pogue... must you poke the bear?!

  31. realchristiansingl
Kirk seems like a really good guy. Loyal to his wife, his faith and, I'm assuming, his friends.

    More power to him.
