if you aren't going out why cake crap on your skin unnecessarily?

    would seem kind of silly.

sometimes putting on a little lip gloss can brighten your day.

Like when it rains I wear pretty little dresses to counteract the dreary mood, when I am bumming it at home, some shiny lip gloss and a dash of mascara perks me up.
    2. jafabrit
why is it unnecessary if it make a person feel good, or brightens their day or is just part of their daily grooming habit?
  2. Epicharis
I never wear makeup unless I'm doing fancy dress!
  3. Vaivata
It's pretty funny; with all of the cakey dames I've seen lately, I thought I was one of the rare people that didn't wear a bunch of makeup. Sometimes I'm in the mood, and wear sparingly (but dramaticly, mind you). But I don't believe I've ever worn makeup when sitting at home reading a book.
  4. evilsquirrel01
of course not. unnecessarily putting chemicals in your face is not recommended. It blocks your pores and your skin can't breathe causing clogging and whatnot. Don't wear make up if its not necessary. If your gonna have sex, then okay, but just lounging in your house alone-don't bother.

    It depends.

If I'm lazy and not getting out of my jammies - NOPE...

If I am dressed - and taking a shower - yeah - I wear makeup.

I WEAR A LOT OF MAKEUP TOO!

Not like cake it on - clown... (ok - when I go to band - yeah - I clown cake my makeup.... LOL!)

BUT - just at home - I put cream, blush minerals, eyeliner and mascara - and some sort of glossy lip stuff or carmex or something.

Sorry - but I was a model when I was younger - and I just learned as a habit that part of getting up and getting dressed means you wear a little color on your face...

Besides - I really prefer my face with makeup --- Not that I'm ugly or anything naturally - but I just prefer a light touch of something on.

If I'm out camping tho - forget it - won't touch the stuff - cause I could care less who sees me at that point. LOL!

    Not even me.

Sometimes a little eye liner can make you feel glamorous at home...
  7. Selvia
Yes only when I have visitors coming to my home
  8. NutriGirl
I am make-up free when I am at home. My skin looks fine, my husband likes me and I am happy in my own skin. Plus, I don't really like layers and layers of stuff on my face and would rather give my face some rest. So make-up is for the "outside world".
  9. jafabrit
I groom myself the same no matter where, home or outside.
  10. Cdejarnatt
Definitely not. I spend the majority of my time outdoors when not on the computer and makeup is a wasted effort.
  11. beautifulstranger
No, because nobody can appreciate my effort anyway
    1. jafabrit
I suppose if you only groom yourself for others then I can understand. What if you just enjoy make up for yourself?
    2. wagerwitch
      exactly my sentiment.

Except when full on camping - I wouldn't bother then...

But the rest - at least a little something...
  12. memoriesinmosaics
No makeup if I am staying home. Lucky if my hair gets done.lol
  13. Shiley
I don't do make up unless I'm getting a picture taken, going to be on camera, or going out with my hubby.
  14. BetsyIckes
Nope! Sometimes you are lucky to see it on me at all!
  15. idealpinkrose
yes, but simple. just powder and lip gloss.
  16. chicky401
I have a ton of make up but it sits and collects dust. I can't be bothered most of the time to put it on unless I am really bored and feel like it. Rarely do I even wear it to go out and I get compliments all the time without it. So nope I don't put it on to be home
  17. acousticguitarist
I am astounded how women put that goo on their beautiful faces
    1. chicky401
I have seen people go nuts with it. Years ago back in the day of high school I had a teacher that caked it on so heavy that she would've looked better if it was tatooed on (at least it wouldn't be so thick )
    2. lotusb
The view point of make up is so lop-sided. I mean men wear cologne, chains, watches, expensive sneakers, earrings....they soup up their cars and spent thousands of dollars on that. Both genders do things that may be unneccesary from an outside perspective or even seem like it comes from a place of insecurity, but it's what makes people happy..and as long as it's done tastefully, then who cares. I think it's hilarious how many men praise women they think are going bare, but who actually have on like foundation and tinted gloss...
    3. lotusb
@Chiky... I agree, some women go way too far. It also comes from their mothers who were so afraid of make up that they never thaught their daughters how to apply it. If a girl shows interest in make up and she's at an approprate age, take her to a department store counter and show her how to apply it tastfully...save her years of embarrassment!
    4. acousticguitarist
it is just goo.... who cares what men do, the question was about make up
    5. lotusb
I was comparing the two because while you can say make up is just "goo" I could say the same of things men do to "make themselves look better". A lot of make up is beneficial to skin, creates a protective barrier between the sun and improves tone. This isn't 1950, make up is more than "goo" these days.
    6. jafabrit
I am 54 and while I am not ugly, my skin tone has sallowed a little with age and has an uneven skin tone. the goo as you call it not only evens out my skin tone, it moisturizes it and has sunscreen in it.
    7. acousticguitarist
      Oh ok... I give in.

It's your faces, your choice. Here's why I said what I said. There are so many beautiful women that look just fine without make-up and I'm always shocked how much make-up women wear. Over the years I've been out with so few women that wear make-up. It's hot where I live and it looks just so uncomfortable. When it's 90 degrees F, I'm sure it would feel weird.
    8. lotusb
I think your confusing women who wear make up and women who know how to wear make up. If it's breezy, not excessive, complimentary and of quality, then make up is nice, effective, attractive and so not uncomfortbale. Women who go to Walgreens and buy 99cent Wet n' Wild mascara, then rub the sweat around their eyes with their palm and smile at you are not an example of a woman who knows how to wear make up.
  18. lotusb
If I'm just at home, no. I'd rather not, plus I happen to think my face freshly washed with a dab of SPF moisturizer on is totaly gorge. When I got out most of the time, however, I wear make up, cause I'm kinda girly like that.
  19. DatingHell
Never know who is going to knock on your door, right? Or when you'll have to run out unexpectedly?
  20. BudgetBride
Hardly. However, I've recently been in contact with some great women on You Tube who do make-up application tutorials. I must admit, some of their tips and tricks have really helped me with application and it's been fun to play 'dress-up' trying on new looks which I've never thought of before. Now, I am trying on different make-up looks during the day to practice with professional eyeshadow brushes instead of the included sponge applicators. I feel it really does make a difference. However, I spend most of my days and most of my errands makeup free.
  21. memoriesinmosaics
Never fails, on the day you haven't any makeup and your hair just got a quick brush through it and you have on mismatched clothes on because you are doing yard work or something, and that is when someone shows up at your door. lol
  22. KPinski77
Oh, absolutely NOT! You're lucky if you find me wearing PANTS if I'm staying at home I certainly don't have the motivation required for make-up.
  23. JaydenVasara
i wear minimal make-up most of the time just in case i have to run somewhere or answer the door....but not all always
  24. toothfairynotes
Never wear make-up at home, I usually look horrible @home hahaha
Why would I anyway... no one cares, and my bf thinks it's just fine! I don't even wear contacts @home! just being nerdy with my glasses
  25. Jaybetee
I only wear make up when I know I'm not leaving the house and when my wife is not around
    1. timethief
      lol ... that's clever
  26. ranist22
Always when I go out, and some light scent and when I'm at home.
  27. MissSuzie
I very rarely wear makeup. I can't stand the way it feels on my face, especially when it's hot outside. I feel like my face is melting.
    1. nothingprofound
I never wear make-up at home, just my mauve slippers and pink teddy.
    2. MissSuzie
I so love that pink teddy.
    3. nothingprofound
I'm considering buying a magenta one, too. What do you think?
    4. MissSuzie
As long as it comes off easy, there shouldn't be a problem.
    5. nothingprofound
Miss Susie always knows the right thing to say, to make a boy feel good.
  28. Anok
I wear bare minimum make up anyway....and particularly if I'm at home I tend to forgo it altogether. When I'm working (inside or outside) I have a tendency to touch my face, or rub my eyes. WHen I'm wearing makeup that can turn out...not so good, and I wind up having to rinse my eyes with clear water because I forgot I was wearing mascara LOL.

So otherwise, not so much. It isn't practical for me, and in my line of work, a made up lady isn't expected and sometimes not even accepted.
  29. Stillthinking
Nope. I only wear make-up when I have someplace to go and my appearance needs a boost. Like the office or out with friends.

I love make-up by the way. I love the way it looks, I love the packaging. I love the confidence boost.
  30. tuanhnguyen
    My gf doesn't.
  31. busylizzy
If I'm staying home, I'll wash my face and brush my hair and that is it!
  32. KaiteeThePirate
    Nope, I can't be bothered.

I made the effort to dress up when I went out the other night and my husband turned to me and said "I hate it when you wear makeup, you don't look like you" and thus my laziness has now been validated
    1. Anok
My husband hates lipstick. He's always said I hate that crap! It tastes terrible! Why do you wear it?!
  33. faithsju243
I don't wear make-up unless I am going out to a party or something. Odd, when I do stay home I will put on some type of fragrance.
    1. lotusb
Wow...thats better than me Faith... I walk around the house, stiff and ashy, with nerdy glasses on and my afro flat on one side...also usually I smell like bar soap at home.
  34. martyjchristopher
I typically only wear makeup when I'm going out. At home, it's au naturel, which isn't always the prettiest thing, but it helps my breakout-prone skin to stay as clear as possible.
  35. ranist22
I'm just wondering if the makeup, cosmetics and perfume industry has only one valued customer: me?
    1. Tforch
I pretty much never wear make up..and if i do, its minimal. I have often been told I have natural beauty. I also enjoy seeing other woman with little/no make up as everyone is beautiful in their own way. Plus I think it looks fake if someone has make up caked onto their face
    2. Stillthinking
I love make-up. I love perfume. I used to buy fragrance a few times a year and dept. store make-up was a little luxury that I loved to indulge in.

Since I was laid off, I don't indulge anymore, but my mom just treated me to a trip to the Lancome counter for foundation and lip gloss.
  36. whineymomma
Oh heck yeah...you never know who might be stopping by. Plus, I feel naked without at least lipstick and eyeliner.
