For those of you who don't already know about this, I envy your ignorance.

Lane Garrison is a Hollywood actor who got drunk and killed a kid and injured his two friends (www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/10/31/actor.sentenced.ap/index.html) in December 2006.

He is going to serve 40 months (roughly 3 and a half years) for this haynes crime.

Am I the only one who has a problem with this?

    Hollywood stars get minor punishment...

Example: Brandy Norwood, (BRANDY)... Killed a woman with her SUV in a crash that Brandy caused.

    Ugh...

Actually, most drunk drivers get minor punishment--at least the first several times out. The average guy on the street can get several DUIs without serving any significant jail time, and depending upon the law in a particular state, the possible sentence may be limited even when someone is injured or killed. There seems to be a perception that people in Hollywood are getting off lightly, but in reality the sentences that I see reported for celebrities are, for the most part, very consistent with general statistics for similar charges. We just don't hear about all those other cases in the news.

Everyone should serve maximum sentence when someone else dies as a result of their stupidity.

Because there's no excuse for being that fucking stupid. Nobody held a gun to his head and told him to drink alcohol. He and everyone else should be severely punished for being a complete waste of human DNA.
