Topics: apology
"Leaving on a jet plane. I don't know when I'll be back again." That song plays through my mind as the events of the past few days play out. I honestly thought it would be no big deal if I left BlogCatalog. I have argued so many times for myself, for others the same points.
I feel like I'm a skipping record sometimes. There is a bad apple in every part of life that doesn't mean you should become cynical and believe everyone is the same way. Health care plan? I'm sure there are those that would abuse it. Habitat for Humanity I know for 100% fact there are some that abuse it. Public Housing for $50 a month we can sell drugs and not pay taxes and since it's not on the books your rent will never go up. Keep in mind this isn't my family. We try to be completely honest.
To generalize everyone or to insinuate everyone who doesn't pay a fee for a service is a scammer of some sort is wrong. To hold someone back from a job position in which they could potentially be a member of the club is wrong. If Bloomsbury Childrens Books hadn't published J.K. Rowling's first book would she still be on welfare today? Who would give her a chance?
The discussions or arguments I tend to find myself in seems more of a social status thing. Should we have health care? If it doesn't start off that way someone turns a corner and BAM! It's now a social issue. It's rather Shakespearean. In Shakespeare's day all of the people in poverty had to stand on the ground to watch Shakespeare preform they were called ground lings. People would spit, pee, and whatever else humans do on this ground. Those with wealth stood high up in the balcony.
It kind of disgusts me that a few bad apples makes people generalize others into that category. If I were to say all people of wealth are snobs. All of those people would be angry. I know this isn't a fact. I have worked with wealthy people in my life time and met quite a few wealthy people. My experience tells me that not all rich people are snobs.
Now back to the reason I left. What was said (and I won't state it here) I found disgusting and abhorrent. I don't point fingers nor will I mention names. I ran because if I didn't a side to myself that is disgusting would show. If I hadn't done what I did what everyone percieved as a "discussion" would have been drama. So, help me if I treat another individual as if they are not good enough to shine my shoes. If I ever treat a person like that I should be smacked hard.
It's funny though I created drama without creating drama. I expected to go quietly. I felt it would be more respectful if I at least announced it to my friends instead of "Where's Shirley?" I didn't think there would be an uproar in the community. I can't count how many emails came to my box. I even had a visit from jaybetee.
I don't think of myself as so important that everyone would be upset over my leaving. Now, if I could just channel all that to get a domestic violence shelter opened or donate to a no kill pet shelter or something that would be fabulous.
I think maybe perhaps I was to hasty in my decision and plus I think I'm PMSing too. Girls, you know how that is some days you're overly emotional and when you get peeved sometimes it goes overboard and you don't even know why.
To everyone: I am sorry for the uproar and the ruckus I have caused it truly wasn't my intent. I will come back. Thank you for caring. I suppose this is kind of an apology and the reason why I did what I did.
Again, I'm not pointing fingers so if you leave a comment please leave the names out of it that this involves. I don't get into that kind of thing and I don't like to cause bad traffic to others.
Now, I have kids to deal with.

let's be serious here, most of the outrage was about Petlvr's class-baiting thread
www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/lets-make-some-rules-for-the-have-nots -
Why not? IMO it would be more dignified if you posted your outrage into the thread that outrages you than continuing to take cheap shots in this one. Alternatively you could post your own thread or you could blog it. But IMHO continuing the pattern you are establishing here does NOT bode well for the community.
If it's truly your POV that the existing community donors are not entitled to bring forward any ideas and discuss suggestions for improving that program as you consider the program to be "elitist" then post your own thread and argue for the elimination of the existing program by providing your grounds for believing eliminating it would be in the best interest of the community.
If you wish to see the community donor program continue but wish to see members in that program censored so they cannot suggest that any changes be made to it then state your case in your own thread, by providing your grounds for believing that censoring those who voluntarily donate to the community through it would be in the best interest of the community. -
i'm not sure what you're talking about. I never really looked at the "blogging jobs" thread because I wasn't interested in a blogging jobs board. If they have it great, if they don't oh well.
i was ruffled up by the "Rules for Have Nots" thread implying that all people who don't have material wealth are irresponsible jerk-offs. Pretty tawdry if you ask me
