Discussions

Should there be a limit on the number of new discussions a person can start a day? It seems have a handful of people who go out drinking on Saturday. The next day they start the same discussion about religion or debt half a dozen times with slightly different titles.

It is unfortunate, but then there are people like me that post really relevant stuff

I'm afraid if I hurt your feelings you'll go gnome on me

The few discussions I've started are equally meaningless as the others. I just don't start 6 on the same topic in the same morning.

some of the threads are pretty funny

Anybody should be able to post anything but there are a couple of people who think they are deep enough for their same idea to have 5 threads all launched within an hour.

I'm not going to name names. Right now it seems fairly well mixed up but somehow Saturday and Sunday mornings seem to bring it out in people.

I'm not talking about one per month or anything so bad. Maybe three an hour. Its kind of like a Brady law but on discussions.

If you don't like the discussion, don't click on it!

It would help, though, if BC would bring back the opening lines of the thread you could read an excerpt of the opening post when you mouse over the title in the discussion list.

Ditto! My thoughts exactly and I also agree that having a snippet to read is very handy.

I would also like to see the mouse over function that displayed excerpts from the OP's in forum threads brought back again. I believe it disappeared when the 5.0 upgrade was done. It was useful for those times when threads were given perplexing titles or titles that did not accurately reflect the contents in the OP.

As for limiting the number of threads any user can post on any given day, I observe that threads don't usually linger on the forum front page for longer than an hour, when they receive no comments.
    4. xmarks
They don't linger long unless they keep bumping their own threads
    1. xmarks
only if people don't agree with me

I love the multiple meaningless threads by the same person. It reminds us all that we are perfect and those losers are not.
    3. xmarks
There is that. If I didn't have other people to put down, I wouldn't feel very good about myself at all.
