Today, I signed up for a Linkedin account. I've been on Facebook and here at BlogCatalog for a few months, but this site looks interesting from a business networking standpoint.

What do you think? Do you use this site?

If you're a writer (freelance, copywriter, creative writer, etc.) and would like to network on this site, please view my profile at www.linkedin.com/in/csessoms Thanks.

I use it for business contacts, especially to keep in touch with former co-workers. I'd like to think that if I were looking to move on from my current company that I could put feelers out there through LinkedIn.

    Yes, it's correct.
I have linkedin account and also facebook.
I use linkedin account to communicate with my friend from former company. Haven't try to use it though

Linked in is for job seeking and business contacts. Works good for the purpose I think it's supposed to fulfill.

I got on LinkedIn about a month ago and found some old college friends through it. I've also added a couple other people to my network, but this is the kind of thing where I am moving much more slowly and cautiously than I do with my BC friends and neighborhoods. After all, this is not just virtual.

Great points, gang. Thanks. I really thought it was all about the work contacts and job seeking. Yeah stoneman, it's good to be cautious.

Thanks, timethief! I work for a nonprofit where I run our myspace.com and facebook.com profiles. I'm always interested in finding new social networking sites for work and for my personal use!

I use LinkedIn because of the higher degree of professionalism in the network. Facebook, BC or other networks are generally okay for random banter between friends, less sserious and just goof. But if I want to activate a business network, I want it to happen with more professionalism in mind.
