I wonder what they think of the present government/political climate/if their lives are better or worse than before the invasion?

    thanx

Despite the blog it wasn't all flat bread and laughter. I spent the afternoon talking about missing people and mass graves. I really had no idea of the scale of suffering that went on before, so I think I know what the answer is. But I will ask again for sure - and report back here tomorrow.

Why are you there? I will go there in a year or two to visit a friend that works for Blackwater.
    1. Nomadic
I'm coaching a media team for an Iraqi Ministry. Quite a moving day today....you sure your Blackwater friend will still be here in a year or two?
    2. Shuttercraft
      Yes, he lives there.

I want to know what IRAQI people think about United States and especially about President Bush ?
    1. Nomadic
OK, I will ask them today.... we had a whole session on "perceptions" so it will be a good question for them. Thanks.

@AGit8r - I haven't forgotten your question, I have been waiting to get to know them better so that I get a more honest answer - after yesterdays session, I think I am there...

Why bush? Obama is in office now... Where have you been?
    3. Nomadic
I already know what they think of Obama - he is a beacon of hope around here alright. The Iraqis I have met have said their biggest wish is that Obama helps restore Iran/USA relations to contribute to stability in the region generally.

What is the best thing you have seen in iraq?. Because of my curiosity i am asking this.I've seen many of the remnants of brutal bombings and attacks in iraq. What about the common life in there for iraq people and outsiders?
    1. Nomadic
Best things I have seen in iraq? Sense of humour! A love of children. Beautiful sun sets. Delicious dates. Lovely warm fresh flat bread. Cure little girls walking to school with pink back packs. Everyone says hello to each other. Men sometimes kiss when they greet each other. People smile alot.

I have asked some Iraqis I have met some of your questions. Their answers below (I was surprised!) - comments from more than one person (and mixed backgrounds):

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE GOVERNMENT?
Democratic, progressing well under pressure. Still new, they need more experience. Mistakes have been made but they are learning from them. "This government has one problem - they come from outside of Iraq. They are outsiders". The problem is that they are resistors of the former regime. It started out as a democracy but I fear it may slide into what it was before.

IS YOUR LIFE BETTER SInCE tHE INVASION?
Initially yes, our income increased, but now we are suffering high inflation.
    Yes.
    Yes and no.
The miserable invasion destroyed our country
    We feel depressed now
There is a lot of pressure from neighbouring countries because they don't want this experiment to work. People who supported the former regime also didnt want life to get better inside Iraq. Simple people are suffering the most from these pressures. It took 3 years to realise the agendas of the neighbours

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE USA? ABOUT BUSH
    They have an agenda.
The right way to deal with America is as a friend - they are a powerful nation.
The Americans made us miserable in Iraq
Americans have no brains - so in Iraq we blame the British. People think the British came up with the whole plan and the Americans just follwed. This is because of their history of colonising Iraq.

      Thanks Nomadic... You rock
    2. Nomadic
Thanks! Although as a Brit, I was glad to have waiting until I got to know them before asking these questions....not sure they would have been quite so comfortable slagging off the Brits if they didn't feel secure in our friendship. I was quite overwhelmed with the unanimous blaming of the British for everything! Guess I am making up for past kharmas!

Do they have feelings for former president Saddam Hussain ?
    1. Nomadic
interestingly they said of Saddam Hussein that he was crippled by sanctions after the Gulf War and possed no real threat - he was greatly weakened. USA picked the wrong country, they said. They should have aimed for Iran instead.

I'm on my own in my room at the moment (eating olives and flat bread!) but I will ask if I get a chance...I feel a bit silly asking that. At least three of my friends were brutally tortured (one for two years) under his regime, so I am just guessing that they may not feel too kindly towards him!

Really thanks for your reply.I was just offline to get that late.I am neither interested in Baghdad's politics nor ruler dynasties.I saw iraq as very primitive and rational in a movie kept on military enforcements.Actually nomadic, what can you say about the children? Are they so sensitive?Especially girls.Whats their view on life and the family establishment? How they speak and think about the future? And about a common man,is he a very dominating figure?Who are powerful men there?Common people or the jammers ?
*you are blogging from a good past .If you find a repetition in questions ,pls don't feel angry upon me.I'll come here soon.
