Live Swine Flu Virus Is In The New Vaccine

Do you know that some of the Swine Flu vaccinations could and in some cases will contain live Swine flu virus? The process is called attenuation. Some people actually contract the virus after receiving an attenuated vaccine and can spread it to others. Things you should know. Read more if you like. Any thoughts?

I understand and am aware of that. Attenuated viruses actually have been used successfully for years. That doesn't take away the fact that attenuated viruses can also cause a portion of people receiving the virus to actually get the virus and spread it to others. Since the initial 5 tier vaccination phase in the US is targeting 159 million people, even a fractional percentage of people getting ill from the virus can still amount to several thousands or millions of people contracting the virus and spreading the virus. The other reason this is an issue is because attenuated viruses are typically used last when supplies of the inactive virus vaccine are in short supply. Since there is already estimates that there is going to be a shortfall of vaccine in coming months the point of attenuated vaccines is more relevant.

"In view of the anticipated limited vaccine availability at global level and the potential need to protect against "drifted" strains of virus, SAGE recommended that promoting production and use of vaccines such as those that are formulated with oil-in-water adjuvants and live attenuated influenza vaccines was important."

Actually contracting this flu in it's first wave provides immunity to it when the second wave comes. Disease control experts predict the second wave may be more virulent than the first one. In essence this what vaccinations are also aimed to do as well but in a much milder way.

IMHO the distasteful hype, exaggeration, sensationalism and intimations of conspiracy found in articles like this one below don't serve us well at all. That's why I'm choosing to break the link.

I really don't want to sound like a smartass and I have nothing against you TC but you have several mistakes in your post.
1. "the actual molecular basis for this attenuation or weakening is unknown" Not true. Every attenuated virus used for vaccination is screened to determine the exact location of the occurring mutations. This actually helps to determine which genes are responsible for high virulence or infectivity.
2. "This means it will be genetically engineered" It is not the same to genetically engineer a new virus than to make it attenuated by multiple passes. Genetic engineering involves that a scientist actually decides which genes to take out or put in.
3. "these treatments are the actual live flu virus there are also instances in which the recipients themselves get sick and also transmit the virus to others" This is actually a desired effect. Given that the virus that gets transmitted to other people is the attenuated version, the people that get mildly sick are actually vaccinating other people.
4. You imply that if the swine flu recombines with the avian flu it would make a highly contagious and deadly strain. The current H1N1 virus already has some genes from the avian flu. Also, the avian flu is not as contagious as you think. There are only a handful of countries that have had cases, whereas the H1N1 is now present in every continent in the world.
If you ask me, I would rather have a mild version of the flu by getting the attenuated vaccine than getting the fully virulent virus and be sick for much longer.-
No problem Deray28. I know your in the business so value your opinion.
1. that is interesting to note since I took my information from the World Health Organization.(WHO-excerpt-Often, the attenuated form of the organism [or virus] is obtained by serial passage [or culture] of the active organism in culture media or cells. In these cases, the molecular basis of attenuation is unknown. Today, it is likely that regulatory agencies would require an understanding of the basis of attenuation. Therefore, development of any new attenuated form of mycobacteria for use as a candidate vaccine is likely to include the introduction of one or more specific mutations into the genome of the pathogen. Likely candidates include mutations that interfere with synthesis of an amino acid or nucleic acid component essential for the growth of the organism.)
2. Genetically engineered - I mean the fact that the WHO suggests that the vaccine will have been genetically altered by introducing a mutation. I'll change the wording.
3. So your saying that those people would be spreading the weakened virus and not the fully functioning virus and it is actually beneficial. Interesting.
4. I am aware of the current virus's makeup and know that it contains aspect of swine, avian and human influenza viruses. The point being made is that the current swine flu is highly contagious but not deadly. The avian flu was more deadly but not easily contractible. The virus is now spreading from humans to birds. Should a mutation occur where a new strain of H1N1 combines further aspects of the avian flu it could become not only a highly contagious virus but also now a more lethal one.
I made a few edits. Thanks Deray.

From the Age, in Australia
LEADING infectious disease experts have called on the Federal Government to abandon its mass swine-flu vaccination plan because of fears the vaccine is a contamination risk that could spread blood-borne diseases.
www.theage.com.au/national/infectious-disease-risk-in-swine-flu-jabs-200908...-
It has to do with a potential risk of the swine flu vaccine which is being rolled out.
Interesting to note:
In a poll in the UK,
* 30 per cent of nurses in the UK would say no to the vaccine
* 33 per cent undecided
