I have nevr done this, but a little direction would be helpful.

I am building a concept of a website that have major city lifestyle blogs. Something that reviews different venues that one would only know about by living there. There are a million things to do in NYC but everyone who visits always goes to Time Square and wonders why they don't like it. Etc.

So I want a web developer who can understand what I want and not charge me up the ass for it.

Anyone have any good starting point tips?

I didn't realize I had to... I know nOTHING about web design. I wanted to have a stand alone website not associated with Blogger or Word Press...I don't the constraints associated with those. IS that what you meant?

Whatever site you have must have software (wordpress, Blogger, joomla, drupal, etc.). I think you should try the job posting board at forums.digitalpoint.com/ and other we developer forums.

I think he wants to start his own website from scratch.
I suggest you try a free one to kind of get the idea of what you want it to look like before you put any money into it. Do a search for free websites or free website hosting. I'm sure you will find hundreds of them. If you know html you may be able to do it yourself. It's not that hard to do.

www.g2web.com : reliable, good SEO, great customer service.

    www.veribatim.com : same as above.

If you contact either of these, send me a message, I'll tell you who to ask for and give you a warm introduction.
