Death's Horse, named Binky? Something a Ringwraith from Lord of the Rings would ride? What happens when mustangs drink blue slushees?

I don't know. But it's the new statue at the Denver International Airport.

I think is seriously creepy! I see nightmares coming up, thanks TSR! jajajajaja
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Hey, I was having 'em myself when I saw it. Had to pass it along.
  2. Stillthinking
    Mwahahahahaha!

My evil plan is in motion.
    1. Deray28
Are you blogging from the inside of that horse ST?
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
She says she's kinda small. She's undoubtedly using this for her evil lair.
    3. Stillthinking
Uhm, no. That would be just silly.
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
      Bad wireless reception?
    5. Deray28
Is it full of gnomes that will burst out of it under your command?
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
That would be the world's ugliest version of the Trojan Horse.

Hm, come to think of it, that would explain MUCH.
  3. cookingasshole
    nice detail on the genitals
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
It looks like they put a lot of effort into them, doesn't it?

And the veins are that extra-special touch.
    2. dbowles1017
      you would notice that
    3. cookingasshole
there is a close up picture of it! Of course I would.
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
Derek, LOOK at the photos... you can't AVOID noticing.
    5. crpitt
Butt nobody made Jenn post the genital ones.
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
I needed you all to get the full experience of the art.
    7. dbowles1017
I only look at the first picture of each thread.
    8. LolitaV
OMG!!! this is SO funny. the a*hole looks like a Werther's original caramel candy. and where did his "thing" go???
    9. ThriftShopRomantic
Lolita, his problems go beyond those piddly issues, methinks.

Also, think of the officials who APPROVED this thing to be built and installed.
    10. LolitaV
TSR I want to know who stood under that a*hole, looked up and still approved the horse AFTER they installed it.
    11. ThriftShopRomantic
Yeah, you do wonder. Who saw it in its full glory and said, "Yes indeed. This was JUST what our airport needs"?
    12. amybyrd21
hey there was a shop down the road that made these for the longest time. Every time we passed there my daughter and her friend would yell out horse pecker alert. Then they had buffalo and other animals that were correct like that. Now they build other things but still everytime we pass by there the horse that is still up draws attention from teenagers all around here.
    13. ThriftShopRomantic
Amy, are they giant statues like this, and all creepy veined?

Do ya see folks in the parking lot buying 'em, or just swerving off the road in fear?

I am both terrified and curious to think there might be more of these, or that it's a trend.
    14. amybyrd21
they have the veins and all they are diffrent sizes. They keep them behind a fence but put up some for public veiwing every once in a while. I do no think there buisness is going that good I think they switched to making something else too as I do not see as many out behind the fence. I will see if I can get some pics this weekend if I get to go out that way.
  4. timethief
GOOD GAWD! Pass the eye bleach.
  5. Deray28
I just read the article. Oh dear! That horse actually killed his maker! And the eyes were supposed to have red laser beams but they change them to red bulbs. Every time I see something like this I confirm what my friend Rick says: if you don't understand it, it's art. o_0
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
I'd like Rick to take a gander at this, though, and reassess.

I can just see the Denver Welcome Bureau campaign--

      "Greetings, from Denver!.."

(Cut to shot of Mustang of Doom.)
  6. Deray28
You can see the glaring eyes here...

*gets the eye bleach from TT*
    1. dbowles1017
so the dude who sculpted it... got killed by it...
    2. Deray28
Yes, a piece of it fell on him severing an artery and he bled to death in his study :S
    3. ThriftShopRomantic
Bummer of a way to go.
    4. dbowles1017
So this statue is evil... Pure evil
    5. legbamel
So, it's a pity statue then.
  7. nothingprofound
I hope they sell tiny replicas of it in the airport gift shop. I just have to have one. Or maybe a full-size kit you can assemble on your lawn.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
It could take the place of the plastic yard flamingo or lawn jockey!
  8. Shiley
    That's um... pretty... ugly. I think it's a he.
  9. timethief
Check out the giant blue bear. It's also in Denver and IMO it makes the cut as art.
It's not "creepy" like the blue horse.

    1. ThriftShopRomantic
      A considerable improvement, yes.
    2. Deray28
At least that one is pretty!
    3. LaurenM622
i like the bear! he seems friendly.

in a peeping-tom kind of way. but definitely more harmless than the stallion of death...
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
      That's scary too, in a semi-themic way.
    2. Shiley
Lol! Now I know why I chose to forget this song existed.
  10. LolitaV
does it have a name? May I suggest DB??
    1. dbowles1017
I am an evil stallion... But I don't have blue balls
    2. LolitaV
he doesn't have a penis though. so he is definetely u
    3. crpitt
      snort
    4. dbowles1017
He does, but like all horses, they hide inside until they become erect. And then they are huge.
    5. Deray28
      I thought that was dogs
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
I notice DB is wearing a blue shirt.
    7. LolitaV
LOL!!!!! bd looks great with his werther's asshole
    1. timethief
That's among THE most ridiculous conspiracy theory videos I have ever laughed my way through.
    2. harveyavatar
Excellent. I may watch it then.
  11. Rainhat
SWEET JES... *cough cough* Wow. That's ugly.
  12. jazzy2103
Doesn't look that bad ...if one doesn't look at him/hr in the eyes! You'll get turned to moosh
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
      Or stone, maybe.
  13. Jaybetee
Horrible. I hate it. Who thought this was a good idea?
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
If it was placed at the airport, surely there was a panel of people to approve it.

Those had to be some interesting meetings.
  14. LaurenM622
this is so creepy... and i read the article... why did they want this horse statue in the first place?? and @thrift - i can't even imagine what was going on in those meetings

who wants a statue that's going to creep out the patrons????
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Given regional promotion at places like airports and city common areas are usually designed to be just the opposite of this-- clean, positive, maybe overly-sanitized-- it does seem a kinda strange PR statement, doesn't it?
