Topics: facelift, rankings, technorati, update, upgrade
Went on Technorati this morning and noticed it seems to have gotten a serious facelift, between today and yesterday.
technorati.com/
Things are still apparently updating to the new system, but I'm already seeing it's calculating Authority different, as one of my blogs went from 6 to 118 overnight.
Those interested can read about the updates here on the Technorati blog:

Personally, I'm glad to see they're making updates, as it hasn't been of very much value in the last... oh... year or so. And yes Alexa and other ratings were still using it to calculate ranks.
And I'm sure I haven't been the only one frustrated.
Just an FYI, anyway!

Techno-what? I almost forgot the place existed.
Does that new-found authority translate into more traffic? I mean, does anyone look for reads via Technorati?-

lol .. me too - I've always hated technorati -
All my sites have an Auth score of 0 .. except PetLvr which has score of 423 .. I guess I forgot to remove the code from my header on that blog - and it's time for an upgrade to my template - it's been so long

Adding the user review section, it sounds like they're trying to fill a gap that BC already does. I wonder if people will take to it. Personally, I find active engagement on all these sites with reviews and rankings to be too much work. I'd rather just engage directly with blogs and bloggers.

I agree there are an increasing number of venues which leverage ratings for the blogs they include in their directories. Too many, really, for many of us to make use of them all without it feeling redundant.
Basically, I've ceased to worry about getting individual blog reviews much. I'm happy if I get them, but it doesn't seem to affect my traffic, perhaps only sure-up the blogs' reputations.

What, does it actually work, now? I haven't even bothered to visit for so long because it wasn't seeing some links, was counting some twice, and never returned sensible search results. I'll have to take a look to see if it's improved.

I just went in their last night and had to redo my bio and my photo. I think they removed them. I've done tags for them in the past. They are looking for writers, similar to blog critics, which they now own of course. I signed up but as with blog critics it's all about time, if I have it I'll do some. For those looking for exposure it might be a good way to go. You have edited pretty tightly though at least with blog critics they won't publish things they have to spend a lot of time editing. I have always liked their state of the blogesphere, but the site definitely needed improving. Here's to hoping this is a big improvement.

The things that are missing seem to be a hodgepodge. For instance, my bio was there and not my photo. One summary for my blog is there and not for the other blog. I'm seeing more or different color being added to features just since this morning.
So I think everything's still transitioning.
We shall see.
