Topics: crappy love songs, open bar???, wanna dance, weddings
we hyave four weddings coming up. not only does this mean four picnic basket gifts to fill (I give picnic baskets filled with glassware, wine, etc.) and not only does it mean having to fight my way into panty hose 4 times (men should have to wear panty hose every day we women get a visit from agnes, that'd make it fair) but it also means I have to listen to every crappy love song known to man played by a crappy band. so let's put some to bed.
crappy love songs we never need or want to hear again at a wedding reception:
Whitney Houston's "I will always love you
anything by Journey

hahahahahahahah. The *first* song that came to mind was that W.Houston song, "I will always love you." I agree on that.
I'm having a hard time thinking of other love songs that I can't stand. It's easier to say which ones I do like. I love Patsy Cline's version of "I Fall to Pieces" (I normally dilike country music too) and I love Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U." -

You Light Up My Life! - Debbie Boone
Some of you will remember they used to play that song almost every 1/2 hour for weeks and weeks! Then they made a dumb movie about it!
"gag"
OH I don't think this would be played at a wedding because it is about a woman who was a promiscuous. Oh and the talking at the end GAG!
"I've Never Been to Me" by Charlene!

I'd hate my boyfriend to sing this to me.
"I wanna take you to a gay bar,
I wanna take you to a gay bar,
I wanna take you to a gay bar, gay bar, gay bar"
In case you didn't see this, this was passed around in a cartoon form when I was in high school, from rather good (www.rathergood.com/gaybar), the link that follows is the more explicit award winning video, and may offend some, so please don't click it if you are easily offended.

I hate the electric slide - No it's not a love song but it's played at every wedding I've been to in the last 7 years

I would like to take this opportunity to ask to have "Why don't we get drunk and screw" by Jimmy Buffet, played at all future wedding receptions

Some songs die due to overexposure. This one was everywhere for a time:

Agreed, those bastards did the same thing to this song.

For me it's any of the love songs by the "Divas" Whitney, Mariah, Celine et al.
I cannot abide "I will always love you" or that one Celine caterwauls on the prow of the Titanic.-
Yep - vomitous. Warble your diva asses backstage and let someone who can sing rather than show off come out and entertain us.
I agree with pretty much all of these. I'd also like to add Lady in Red. I don't even know who "sang" the stupid song, but I always hated it and, becuase I like to wear red, it's haunted me for years. It makes me want to kick someone every time I hear it.
