Finally made my first dollar as an Amazon associate from one of my blogs www.newgadgetsguru.com

Anyone has had good success with this program? Can you share some tips?

sure. On your dec 15/08 post you wrote about..

    Fujitsu Lifebook N7010

You could have easily linked that to something like this:
    www.amazon.com/Fujitsu-LifeBook-T1010-Tablet-PC/dp/B001D7739K/ref=sr_1_1?ie...

If you were on wordpress, there is an "Amazon Reloaded" plugin available that helps with stuff like this.

If you used Feedburner, you can link your RSS feed to your Amazon associates account.

Instead of general banners in the sidebar, find products you recommend that "fit" in with the topic of your blog.

I know when I first earned commission from Amazon, it took forever to break $100 level to recieve a payment, and I vowed that I would close my account for ever after I reached that limit. However, before I could close the account, some guy bought 1100 HP generator and I earned a $17.90 commission, and figured.. oh well! When I reach the next $200 I'll quit. (I've said that 3 times now)

    PetLVr,

These are very valuable tips - thank you so much. I will definitely try the tips that you have mentioned here and work on it. By the way, could you also provide me with the link to your blog? I don't intend to "steal" your ideas, but just want to get an overall picture. Hope you wont mind.

I was an amazon affiliate for awhile and just gave it up because I didn't make any money. Good for you

I'm not a huge fan of the Amazon affiliate program; I think there was a period in time where the payout percentage was greater! Now a days you get pennies on the dollar - Dont get me wrong over time I've made some money but It takes a very long time to build an amazon affiliate business...if it works for some folks great! but I know more effective ways to make money online...and in my own humble opinion - Amazon is not my cup of tea :-)..

but if you want to take the route - I would definitely recommend teh Amazon Plugin for wordpress - it will save you much time - you can also add a page to your blog and add the "Amazon Store" code so that there is a listing of all products on that particular page.

I'm thinking of venturing into PPC for amazon products. Has anyone had any success with that?

Correct me if I am wrong, and I very well could be....but don't you get 40% but have to pay $60 per month?

You can go through PPC...but ONLY if you are properly educated about affiliate marketing. Have you tried free marketing methods as well? Come by my blog and read about affiliate marketing. Message me or something if you want and I'd be glad to offer you with any help I can as well.

I'd say education is key to success anywhere, if you don't have the proper knowledge of something, you won't get far..and you'd end up losing money through PPC. But good luck!

Amazon is good is you are able to find the correct market and cater your affiliate link to them. Some people are just too lazy to search for the products or can't find them on Amazon due to the flashy layout. If you provide them the link, they would be more than happy.

If you wanna make more, target those pricey products rather than those on the low end.

In whatever you do, patience and perseverance is really needed. :-)

    Cheers!
