So I feel like I'm missing something...I used to subscribe to Newsweek and Time to stay abreast of world and US events.... For the last few years, I've had nothing and I'm thinking I want to subscribe to some magazines again - for culture, world news, etc... What are your favorites? Is there still a Life magazine? (LOL thus you can see how out of touch I am!)
I can't rely on myself to just check a million sites online - plus I'm still a fan of the printed "in my hand" word....

I am not actually promoting, but, with your money spent, maybe you can subscribe for more/longer time magazines. I am also subscribing with five of magazines through this super cheap plan. Be smart while spending on your magazine because after all, you will surely throw/sent the magazines to library/away (after some time of proper keeping). This is just my recommendation. You maybe can compare with others like ebay/amazon or any other options as well. But this is the cheapest that I already found. See it by yourself.

When I was a track buff I used to enjoy reading The Racing Form. But that's probably not what you have in mind.

Actually, besides of all, I am not the person who subscribe to an example MarieClaire (Sorry for Claire's fans), or most of the auto magazine because, those magazines only contains advertisements. Why should I buy a compilation of advertisements? I am not that on the related industry what so ever anyway.

Mad Magazine is still going strong, actually! I'm a movie buff, and regularly buy Empire, Total Film and SFX. And Viz, which is crude but funny.

Very tough to find exactly the right balance of good reading, nice pics, fun stuff, etc.
I find the New Yorker and The Atlantic to be too cumbersome, but great articles. I don't have time to read them. Wish I did.
Maxim and other men's magazines like that are fun, but not great on articles.
Esquire is decent. And Vanity Fair is pretty well rounded for women and men.
