I was thinkin' the other day...

The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is guitars tuned good 'n' firm-feelin' women
I don't need ma name in the marquee lights
I got my songs and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feudin' like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and Newbury's train songs
And blue eyes cryin' in the rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain...

Is that like the best country song ever, or what?!

How many of you out there are humming the tune right now?

I don't like country music - but the lyrics are definitely cool.

So baby let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is chokin' me
In your high society you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four-car garage and we're still buildin' on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Love it! Now go set it to punk music

Three chords, fast drums...I know you can do it Ruski

I heard about a real country song that goes something like this:

I'm gonna hire a wino to decorate the house so you don't have to roam

    also this one:

If my nose was money, I'd blow it all on you.

    Actual, bizarre country songs.

I don't know that song ... thankfully, LOL. "Guitars tuned good 'n' firm-feelin' women" Seriously? That's in a song? HAHAHA!

Sung by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson...a classic...and first sung probably before the phrase "politically correct" was invented.
    2. Anok
Is that any worse than "Cigarettes an' whiskey, and wild wild women..."
    3. DrowseyMonkey
I'm not laughing at how un-politically correct it is...I'm just laughing 'cuase it's silly! Who'da thunk it to put them there words to musac? lol

      Because those ARE...

...the only two things in life that make it worth livin'!

      ...maybe it's a guy thing.

Seriously, I really miss the artists we had when we were growing up. It just seems that romantic songs were a daily event. Memorable lyrics and melodies. We need writing teams and exciting vocalists to sing their songs.
  7. TheBigRuski
Lord it's the same old tune, fiddle and guitar
Where do we take it from here?
Rhinestone suits and new shiny cars
It's been the same way for years
    We need a change

Somebody told me, when I came to Nashville
Son you finally got it made
Old Hank made it here, and we're all sure that you will
But I don't think Hank done it this way
No, I don't think Hank done it this way

from "Are You Sure Hank Done It This" Waylon Jennings
