My blog is a daily taste of the ups and downs of a person who is bipolar. I know there are a lot of others out there who are diagnosed with mood disorders.

Let's check out each others blogs, give some reviews and link up if we choose. I think personal blogs as well as professional blogs would be great, though I personally am not interested in any that focus specifically on selling something.

I don't blog about it, specifically, but I take a prescription to control depression.

On the other hand, odds are that the half-century I spent before getting diagnosed had some effect on me, and how I write, so I'll suggest:

family, small town life - seen through my eyes
    smalltowndad.blogspot.com/

too artsy to live - a fictional, and very angsty, artist's blog
    narcissus-X.blogspot.com/

Not quite what you were looking for, but maybe this will get someone else off the dime.

(I've been to your blog, BTW, yesterday I think.)

Mine is not a mental health blog. It's a personal blog and I am suffering from depression as a result of grief - my best friend suicided this winter. I placed a link to your blog on my links page thistimethisspace.com/links/
    Happy blogging

    @earthathome
    Your blog is quite wonderful.

Thank you. I'm switching back and forth between BlogCatalog and getting some website work done. I look forward to seeing all of your blogs as soon as I can break away from the work.

I started blogging to understand PTSD and Clinical Depression. I blog about so many things, but it is always a theme on my site.

Thanks for the link. I'm creating a Resources category on the forums page and will add you to it.

      Thanks-

It's because of great people like you all that I do not go pulling out my hair and run screaming into the night. I really like it on days that I am in complete control. Oh, that's right. My husband left me in charge while he's off on his European and UK tour. So ... I'm in complete control ... right?

It was so much easier when I was a child. I am a child at heart, a woman child.

      Best wishes, managing the household.
    2. Theresa111
It seems all I have been doing is household chores, cleaning, taking care of cats and not much time for myself. It is easier and does not feel so daunting, as it did at the beginning. Joe always helps me, we share the load and naturally, it gets done faster. Thanks for the good wishes. Being on my own was scary but now it feels much better. Time to go for now. Everyone stay safe.

I've linked to this thread in Apathetic Lemming of the North. Two reasons:
    1. Reach a wider field of people
    2. Remind me to get back for a read-and-review
    3. Micro-review, that is.

Thanks for the link petluvr. I am going to a little shameless promotion and mention a group blog I co-administrate. It's for gays and lesbians living with a physical or mental illness. Feel free to leave a message if you wish to be a contributor. Also, leave a message if you'd like to be linked on our resources or blogroll (obviously blogroll/resources is gay or straight bloggers).

I'll be adding everyones links to my blog. I would love to get a really good network going of more blogs about mental health issues. I know there's some list at MyBlogLog that aren't on here.

I think we can do a lot of good both helping and educating people.

      HOWISBRADLEY,
I would be honored if you would consider including my blog.

It was started primarily as a tool to sell a product but it has evolved into much, much more than that.

      I hope you agree.

Not a lot of fun, is it?

Mine hit around the time I was thirteen - and was diagnosed a year or so ago, in my fifties. No complaints: I figured that the mental condition was part of growing up. I'm in my fifties.

Best wishes, dealing with your own situation.

GREAT discussion thread, by the way.

I don't know if mine is a mental health blog. Probably not although it covers some mental health issues as that's the field I work in. So it's probably a bit too broad to come into this area specifically, but I have an interest in mental health - so will check some of these out (when I'm back from work!)

I guess my personal blog touches on mental health issues. I think the pysch system is pretty punitive and doesn't offer much help other than overmedicating and labeling people. If you take those who head it, you would be surprised to find how many themselves suffer with issues they are trying to treat others for.

here is my blog about my ongoing recovery from alcoholism and continuing struggles with the monster that is depression.

Well guys, having never being diagnosed with any mental health issues, I am in no position to preach to anyone. BUT, there seems to be a pandemic in this country of people with mental health disorders. Something is not right.

Please allow me to ask some of the hard questions on your behalf and perhaps begin a national discussion to shed more light on why.

Why are so many (otherwise normal) people suffering with diseases of the mind and brain.

Why are we allowing new diseases to be invented every day by psychiatrists - and subsequently a new pill is introduced by the pharmaceutical companies - and instantly an otherwise normal person is being drugged for life!

It is time to ask the tough questions.

    Lynne
    1. sarah123
SolarGoddess you pose a great question. I for one don't believe all those kids diagnosed with ADHD and put on Ritalin is right. It's impossible for so many to have that disorder if that is a disorder. Also the stress of our lifestyle isn't the best. Sarah
    2. Jaybetee
half those kids wouldn't need meds if they went outside and ran around instead of sitting in front of a TV all day
  29. AngieA
    @jaybetee

I so believe that to be a true statement
  30. SolarGoddesss
Honestly, at last count 20 million American children were on some type of medication for either ADHD OR AHD or some other 'disease' diagnosed by a psychiatrist who has no way of determining whether or not this disease was present in these children.

I have made it a point to include some of these instances in some of my blogs and articles...but let's let the experts speak on the subject.

I urge everyone who has a child on psychotropic drugs to visit the Citizen's Commission on Human Rights (http://cchr,org).

Prepare yourself first, tho, because I guarantee that these videos will shock you and make you wonder WTF is really going on.

Once you have seen them, please GOOGLE "Psychotropic Rape" to read the article. I don't want to self-promote here.

P.S. You can get a free packet complete with a DVD to show locally to your own social group or friends.

There are even instructions on how to get your local community-service tv and radio networks to show your DVD for free.
