Mike the Headless Chicken

In the interest of leavening the serious dialog on the discussion threads, I proudly present you with the hometown story of Mike the Headless Chicken, a brave fowl who lived for many months without one ounce of chicken nugget to motivate him:

Yup I remember talking about it once here in some other bc discussion and people thought I was nuts when I mentioned that there is or was a chicken who lived for months without a head.

There's a town in the North east of England that has a Monkey as it's mascot because of an incident that occurred during the Napoleonic war.
A French ship was sunk during a storm off the coast of the town and the next morning the locals were on the beach searching through the wreckage when they found a monkey dressed in a little sailors suit, having never actually seen a Frenchman they assumed it was one of the crew because he was all hairy and speaking some sort of gibberish.
They dragged him into town and jailed him while they held a trial at which he was sentenced to death and they then hung him in the town square before the cheering locals and still to this day people from Hartlepool are called "Monkey hangers"-
Go Hartlepool United!
Oddly enough, the Welsh have started to celebrate Mike the Headless Chicken, as well.

I can't think of any strange stories in my part of the state. I would think Philadelphia might have some good ghost stories. Over in NJ they have the NJ Devil. Some says it was originally an insane person who wandered aimlessly about. Now there are sitings just like Big Foot. These sightings have been going on for over a hundred years...
