Millions of blogs crashed today- wordpress.com

Wordpress.com and all the blogs hosted on wordpress.com are now down! This means if you have a worpdress.com blog it is down!
This is just one more reason to back up all those posts you worked so hard on!

I host my own wordpress blog and I never understood why would anyone not do the same.....-
Well, THAT host can go down too and is absolutely no guarantee against outages. But it is definitely easier to do a full backup if you're self-hosted. And right now I'm glad for my my decision to go self-hosted a month ago. -
For some people it is vary hard to host there own blog. I will be walking across America and I can not keep up on the hosting maintenance, so I went with a wordpress.com blog. wordpress.com servers are just as secure as most of the top hosting services available. Any service you use to host your blog is just as likely to crash.

This the first major wordpress.com outage I have experienced in my two years on wordpress.com.

I have also been with wordpress.com for two years and a complete unannounced downtime has never happened before!

I got that off twitter as well. But, now that I have looked into it more, looks like it is down.

Rumors all over the net say that there is a power outage at the main wordpress.com server location. Because of the Loss of the main server they had to shutdown the system. Do not hold me to this. I do not know if this is entirely true. I hope thy come back online soon, I love the wordpress team.

Many of the rumors on Twitter refer to www.centernetworks.com/wordpress-down-power-outage. However, if you check the date on that post it says May 10th, 2008!!! I can't believe people don't check the date on their sources before they spread them.

For wordpress.org and .com to be down there has to be a major problem... I just hope everything works out for wordpress.

Yes! thank god! I wonder how many bloggers wordpress just lost? Now people are going to be scared of unstable servers.

My blog has an outer coat of titanium so I don't worry about such trivial matters. -
I use one paid and one free host.
I have been using the free hosting service for over 2 years with absolutely no problems. I only have a small static site there but route a lot of Imap mail through them. -
I was away, and I have one free wp blog it's kind of old I don't know if I've ever backed it up like I do my self hosted blogs. It appears to be working fine though. I am going to have to do something about that now. -
I'm gunna sound stupid heerreee but how do you backup a blog? wordpress, specifically hhehe.....
