I'm trying to learn more about monetization techniques that are out there but not necessarily via an ebook from clickbank although I wont rule it out. I'm hoping to get a wide variety of responders with various types of blogs.

3 questions come to mind

1) What does your blog earn per day? How much traffic do you get, ie, unique visitors/page views?

2) Name your top techniques to increase monetization. What worked best and why?

3) What are you experimenting with lately? What's working for you?

I find these questions, bothersome. Blogs are not and were not envisioned to be business web sites. Thats what domain's are for, to establish business websites or e commerce sites. It seems to me anyone using a blog to conduct business is simply to cheap to design, develop and operate a 'real' website.

Thanks for your thoughts pobeptr. There's often alot of confusion about this. I actually own over 65 domains and you are right, they are expensive to develop. It's a growing problem of mine. In regards to blogs per se, I started out as an experiment on blogspot. I found blogspot made it easy to add adsense to the pages and thus, expanded the experiment. What I found is you can both blog and earn money. I know...very tacky indeed. Best to you.

Wow... That much... So you and I need the same accountant for the blogs...

Actually, I make it a point that I don't make money off Kobra's Corner.

Hi vK. I checked out your site. Very unique take on most things. I wish you well.

I found this URL which does a nice job of getting at some of what I was interesting in learning:

    www.problogger.net/archives/2005/03/31/bloggers-adsense-earnings-poll-resul...
    1. PetLvr
that poll was from 2005 - and out of date. How do I know that? Because my answers were part of that poll back then.

Blogs should be used for whatever purpose the blog owner wants. Monetizing a blog does not lessen it's impact or its message - content is and always will be king. Steve Pavlina still provides great content and manages to make a very nice living while he's at it (www.stevepavlina.com for anyone who would like to check it out).

Adsense works, so does Amazon Associates programs, and other PPC programs. There are a plethera of tools available to anyone who chooses to monetize their blogs, even writing your own ebook and marketing it to your readership. Keep your product selection or PPC links relevant to your content and audiance. Focus on the visitors you already have and you will maintain their loyalty and perhaps gain their business.

I earn all my income from blogging, but I'm not prepared to answer the rest of your questions, some things should be kept private/secret whatever people want to call it.

      Hey Carl

How can you make your entire income from blogging? That's impressive. Can I ask how many visitors you are getting to be able to make that much? If that is too private, then I do not mind if you don't want to reply. Thanks.

I'm blogging for not more than 5 months and adsense and bidvertiser was my blog's primary monetization method. I made $20 from adsense so far. But impressively, at the 5th month, I'm making $20 per paid reviews.

Paid reviews are big money makers for blogs but need some time to get your blog that ranking and the status to gain.

Earning some money also via private ad sales. Traffic is the main factor in making big money from the blog.

    Hi,

I use to make about $400/month, but now I am down to about $60. There are external reasons, out of my control, that traffic dropped about 50%. But the rest of the decrease in revenue is due to getting less/click from Adsense. Google seems to be collecting a greater percentage of the revenue for each click. Now, I am down to next to nothing.
    1. carlgalloway
I gave up on Adsense a long time ago, getting a few cents per click just isn't worth the effort involved in promoting a site and it takes up too much real estate compared with other forms of revenue.

What do you prefer Carl? Everyone says that e-bay is a big earner.

Haven't tried ebay, it seems like too much effort although I know a couple of people back home who make a really nice income from it by combining their love of thrift shopping with community that they get from ebay.
    4. ccRicers
The only money I've earned from my blogs was through eBay, though it's very little. If someone happens to be on your site at the right time that a product they want is for auction, you might just get something.
  7. gerasbloggas
I havent made more than ten bucks with adsense. I am also an ebay member and of otehr auction sites and i can say you can make moeny from it. but you have to work a lot and to pay off you have to work full time online or combine it with other sources of profit. Then again i know nothing about money making online. Tried it didnt make it. now i think ill concentrate on the content of my blog for while its still fresh.

    Cheers

I found this recent blog post on the topic. Covers details about an anonymous blogger earning ~$30K / month and breaks down where that income is originating.

    1) What does your blog earn per day? How much traffic do you get, ie, unique visitors/page views?
    My blog earn me $0.01/day
    4-10 visitor

    2) Name your top techniques to increase monetization. What worked best and why?
Show exactly what your blog want,
people will know you are trying to earn money using adsense when put it before your post. Full of adsense all over the blog. Maybe some of the people will click on it because they know you want them to click it.

As far as I know, the best thing is collecting opt-in, increase subscriber with Aweber and something alike.

    3) What are you experimenting with lately? What's working for you?
Experiment on what kind of Materia should I master(FF VII), ^^.
    No experiment at all...
    1. carlgalloway
Do you seriously want to get banned from adsense? Even talking about people clicking your ads because you want to could get you banned
    2. sayzlim
Nope, I'm not telling them to click on my ads.
I showed them what is the main point in the blog,
I've tried it and get some result...

(Edit. I never write something like "Click on the ads", but the page layout show the Adsense come first. That's all.)

I'm not that stupid to add adsense without reading their policy.

      But I don't like it,
the design become very bad and not very targeted.
I prefer to fun blogging, create more valued posting(I'm learning) and help others.
Just treat adsense as some another income...

One time I checked on the adsense account that I had until recently and I had made .46 cents.

    I opted out of adsense

Since I started it, It was better from day to day from month to month.

Not to mention anything but you gotta love blogging!

I only use Adsense, no other revenue generators. Just yeasterday I earned 44 cents. I signed up about 2 moths ago and I am about to smash the $20 mark. Woohoo! In a year I'll get my $100 payout.

I have seen an increase in clicks. I changed from a 2 add square to a 6 add skyscrapper. I also moved it up so more ads show above the crease.

My primary goal is to get buyers for my investment real estate buyers list. So a button to join tht is on the top right. The google adds are just below that.

      Thanks Versi,

I checked it out. I may try it out. I had my best single day ever with Adsense yesterday, 5 ad clicks for about few bucks total. I am over $20 total now. It's a tiny amount but at least it is growning.

It is really hard to determine, in terms of adsense, i make from $0.50 to Much more in a day. But the reason for the adsense is simply to create a self funding advertising.

Apart from that, i use the blog to keep my name in front of my clients. But I can't really tell you how much business I manage to retain from this.

Lastly I have gotten clients that came through the website. The return on this depending on how long i keep them and if i get a referral from them is in other words practically unlimited.

In short, Adsense pays to keep it there. The rest is gravy.
