Have you heard or attended a Moriones Festival in Marinduque, Philippines?

    Yes. This is a week long religious event celebrated by the people of Marinduque. Moriones Festival starts on Holy Monday and ends on Easter Sunday. Visitors such as tourists and locals will see the participants in colorful costumes re-enact the story of Longinus, a Roman centurion who, it is said, speared the crucified body of Jesus Christ. Moriones is one of the Philippines’ religious traditions and events now sadly overshadowed by commercialism…
