I like blogger because I have more control over what I can place on the page. I can edit the html and put whatever I want in the sidebar. Some other blog platforms don't allow javascript, which is necessary for putting the widget on your blog so you can see who has visited. Blogger lets you do that.

I originally signed up for it because it was free and there were no ads.

Blogger is good if you are less familiar with coding. I actually started off with a Blogger website, but moved to Wordpress for better flexibility.

There's a great community with new plugins and themes all the time. If you're comfortable with code and are interested in more scalability I would give Wordpress a shot. Blogger is a great platform and is set up to play nice with the search engines, but I thin you have more flexibility with WP.

I began using WP about 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

I think why I use blogger is because I have a higher chance of being noticed since blogger is from google and most people use google search engine. Plus. blogger is easy to use for begginers and doesn't need much knowledge in coding like "n8" said.

Just to buck the trend, I use Serendipity which I think is far superior to Wordpress, check it out, www.s9y.org

my blog has great PR, and my posts get indexed within a few minutes, and I rank #1 for several keyphrases so I'd say no different to any other software

      is it hosted?
i went for Wordpress because it is part of the Fantastico scripts at hostgator

yeah, I self-host through weberz.com, Serendipity isn't available through Fantastico but some hosts like GoDaddy have added it. But installing it yourself is really easy, setup a database, upload the files, run the install script and you're done.

I host a Wordpress blog on my own domain. I consider myself as a power-user and designer

I found this post yesterday. Like acousticguitarist, one of the things that I like most about Wordpress is the speed with which it gets indexed by Google.

Apart from a couple of self hosted wordpress blogs, I have a blogger account as well, but prefer wordpress.

You don't have your own domain or full access to your blog with Blogger. It is a hosted blog. Joomla and WordPress are the more popular open source blog software, but you will need your own server. BUT you will have 100% freedom with your blog and have your own domain.

www.wordpress.com enables you to have a hosted blog, the same as Blogger.

I'm doing Squarespace for my new blog (still use blogger for my old one). I am crazy for Squarespace. It is the bombdiggity. IMO. best, Kay
