Next to the refrigerator, name the most used appliance in your kitchen. In mine it's the microwave and when it died I was lost without it.

Ahhhhh Yes, with the little grand-kids over constantly and all they do is eat, eat, eat, and want a drink, my hubby said we need a dishwasher.
I was thinking about my answer and I was thinking that maybe my can opener comes in real close to first.
I had a old army hand can opener for years, but now I have this newfangled can opener (my children insist I get more modernized) I just open cans to see how easy it is. Thank-goodness for hungry grand-kids...

I am with you wholeheartedly on the mixer...I have a Kitchen Aid Professional Series 6 stand mixer that I lovingly call Big Red! Since I do a LOT of baking, buying this stand mixer was the best money I ever spent! My food processor is a close third but my second most used kitchen appliance isn't really an appliance, it's my hand crank sifter.

Small kitchen appliances are usually portable.
They can make everyday life easier and more convenient, whether it's cooking food in a college dorm, brewing coffee at the office, or preparing a meal after a busy day. Small appliances include coffee makers, blenders, and food processors as well as mixers, toasters, and can openers.
There are styles and colors to suit every kitchen and a wonderful variety of appliances to cook everything from popcorn to pizzas. -

Stovetop, but am considering getting a slow cooker. Make lots of soups and stews this time of year. Don't have a microwave at home, but use one at work everyday to heat up my lunch.

People who are dependent on caffeine have breakfast with an old friend - the coffee maker. Every morning you scoop in the coffee, add some water and flip it on. but have you ever wondered what's happening inside. How does the water get from the reservoir over to the coffee grounds in the filter basket? How does everything heat up so quickly, and what on earth is that gurgling noise? Nice.
Can openers is my most used also when lazy to cook, I need this to open Can Food.
Hi, timethief. So my avatar now is ok? I am not a woman or lady.

Has to be my stove...I seldom use the microwave.
I bake all the time so I need my stove.
Eggs in the morning, omelettes, french toast, scones etc. -

I hate microwaves, though we do have one, I can just image what all that nuking is doing to us lol.
Tops here is the kettle, don't have an electric, second would be the toaster. -
-
I am a kitchen appliance aficionado. I probably use my stove top the most (I had a professional-style gas range installed shortly after we moved in), followed by the microwave (I usually nuke the dinner veggies), and then the bread machine (at least 4 loaves per week), and last, the hand mixer (mashed potatoes several times a week). I also have a food processor, slow cooker, steamer, and a massive KitchenAid mixer, electric kettle and toaster, but these are not used as much.
When my microwave died, I was also lost without it. I've had one since '77 had many years of cooking experience before I got my first one, so it was amazing to me when I found myself so lost without the thing! After the fridge and stove, I'd name it the most beloved appliance in the kitchen. -
-
It's hard to choose between them but I put microwave first because I can always use the woodstove, and as long as I have boiling water I can Melita a cup of coffee. I grind beans ahead of time because the power frequently goes out here but not usually until January or February. The snow is an unaccustomed event here.

I spent 20 years cooking almost all of the meals for a family of four... in my life now the microwave is essential with my partner's and my busy schedules. No more spending three hours in the kitchen regularly:)

We personally don’t use a microwave since the radiation makes the food toxic, but since I cant name a specific appliance can I say my wife?
I use her a lot in the kitchen LOL -
-
oh the microwave for sure. without it i may starve...i cook only once in a blue moon. and that is only cause i am too lazy to clean up afterwards so i just dont make the mess in the 1st place.

I live in my photography studio, it is a giant restraint that went out of business. I converted the building into a studio, but I kept the full restraint kitchen as it was when the place was serving hundreds of people.
I probably use the 12 burner stove more then anything. -

I'm with you & the microwave. We even had a backup nuker (because of Hurricane Katrina,) but the hubby gave that to his son.

My Vita Mix. I hate most vegetables, so the only way I can get the health benefits from these is to throw them all into this super blender, juice them, and drink my dinner.
-
-
I use my slowcooker most often, because its so easy and fool proof!
I ♥ fool proof anything for the kitchen! -

Definitely my electric kettle, I'm not a big one for kitchen gadgets. I have a microwave but never use it (because I think they are dangerous) the only thing I use it for is to time my boiled eggs I put a cup of water in it and set it for 2 and a half mins so I know when my eggs are done.
-
Well I didn't buy it to time eggs, my ex bought it because she was as good in the kitchen as she was in the bedroom.
I would throw it out but it was quite expensive and being a tight Yorkshireman I can't bring myself to throw it out, so I compromise and use it as a 200 quid egg timer.
When, sometime in 2035 it finally stops timing eggs I will then buy myself a nice little egg timer.

3-way tie for our household...
Coffee Maker / Dishwasher / Microwave.
Runner Up:
Toaster and Coffee Bean Grinder -
-
I soooo wanted a George Foreman Grill but I didn't get one for Christmas.
I'll see if I can get one cheaper on Ebay. -
I guess the phone (for ordering takeaways) should rate as more useful than the microwave and the dishwasher as it makes them obsolete
-
If you've got a microwave and a Vita-Mix that's all you need. Throw in a vending machine and a large garbage can and you've got an efficient kitchen.
-
Electrical kettle for sure, and
Slow cooker.
Use to cook lots of soup and chinese herbs. Life is just made so easy. -

The Kitchen Sink. My Kitchen Aid Mixer helped me make these.

I vote for the garbage disposal. I use it every time before preparing a meal and run it when I do the dishes. Since I use the stove or oven for perhaps 2/3 of meals and toaster for perhaps 1/4 of them, it stands to reason that it's my most used appliance after the refrigerator.
And to make sure I don't bring my troubles at home, I pretend to put them in the garbage disposal when I come in too! They seem to be smaller the next day at any rate. -
-
I don't have a garbage disposal :-( Electric kettles are popular in OZ. We make both tea and coffee with ours and its quite a busy little device!

@ Siralmo
I grew up in America with metal kettles that you boil on the stove top; they whistle when they reach the boil... -

Washing machine which is being repaired at the moment. Am amazed it has lasted as long as it has considering how we hammer it. There's only two of us but because of our respective occupations we seem to get thru a lot of clothes.
Next up is the dishwasher (next on the repair list). Oh how I hate washing up by hand. I realise not everyone has this luxury, when I was a kid it was my major chore - much preferred gardening! -
I'd have to say it's a tie between the stove/oven and the coffee maker. Both seem to be running non stop
