An Eco-Friendly Gift Guide for Mother's Day
"Now that Earth Day has come and gone, it's that time of year when "love your mother" can be taken literally again. But here's a bonus: green Mother's Day festivities allow you to be kind to Mother Earth and the woman who pushed you out her cervix. Of course, the best gifts are stuff-free (and even free free -- carefully planted smooch, anyone?), but here are some ideas if you feel the need to drop some dough."

Mother's Day is just around the corner. Some have bought and wrapped their gifts and others are still shopping.
If your shopping is done then is the gift that you purchased for your mom an "eco-friendly gift?
If you haven't bought one yet then will you consider buying your mom an "eco-friendly gift?
Will eco-friendliness be a factor when you purchase Mother's Day gifts in future years?

My mom is getting a card, and brunch.
She gave me money, which I used to buy a kid seat for my bicycle so I could ride more, and drive less.
Hopefully my husband will get me something useful, like the plants for my garden

Plants are also a cool eco-gift. I'm not a mother so I won't be getting a gift. If I were I would love to get trees or flowers. I love flowers. I have a huge covered deck and, I have hanging flower baskets, as well as, all kinds of planters and containers full of flowers and herbs on it. I'm a container gardener. It's still a bit too cold to bring out the fuschia starts and I'm eagerly awaiting the day when I can put them out. From that day onward our deck becomes the primary "living room" in our home.
(Please excuse me for all the editing. I'm having a bad vision day.) -
Yeah, I've got loads of flowers already planted. I need plants for my veggie garden though. It'll be just about the right time to get them planted.
This year I'll be planting fewer tomatoes (last year I had so many I didn't know what to do with them, and some ended up going bad
) I will be planting zucchini, Probably peas, I think I'll nix the string beans (they didn't grow very well at all), I'll give the eggplant another try, and I'm not sure what else. I don't think I'll plant cucumbers again either, as they did poorly too.
A gift certificate to the local nursery would do well too
