Music. What does it do for me? It provides entertainment and distraction. On a deeper level, it invigorates, inspires and consoles me. It speaks to me in a personal way much like it probably does to you. Music. It is an outlet for me and lets me be myself. Did I just tell you the reason for my blog? In one respect, yes.

There are certain roles we all play in life. Some of these roles we are comfortable in and others.... not so much. Rules, expectations and people like to try to shape and mold us. I imagine there might be some people who read this and start to feel a little self righteous saying to themselves "I don't know what she is talking about. I am myself 100% of the time no matter what"! If that is the case, good for you but honestly, I don't believe it.

Do you have an outlet that lets you be yourself?

If you are in the mood to read the rest of the post and listen to the song that inspired it, you can check it out here www.whatdoesthissongmeantome.com/2008/11/music-is-outlet-to-let-me-be-mysel...

Definitely my comic strip is that outlet. Anybody who knows me will see why that is so.

But I do also find outlets through listening to a wide variety of music, reading voraciously, and enjoying anything that has a strong, imaginative story component.

I love music too. Hi kelly. Good to see you and Anok again. I've been mulling around an idea to copy your format for one of my next posts. I want to include the Tears for Fear song "Shout . . . . these are the things I can do without." Then I would proceed to list what I would like to do without.

It's amazing to me how music can bring me back to a time - and not just remember it. I can see, hear, and experience it again. It's more than memories. Music lets me relive an experience. When I hear Van Halen's "It's got what it takes," I can remember being in my convertible and just blaring the music. Now that I have a few grey hairs, when someone else blares their music, it'll make my next post - things I can do without.

Hi Rob! That sounds like a great idea for a post. Go for it, it is a lot of fun to include music.

That is exactly what music does to me as well. In an instant, you can feel and practically smell the time again. Music is the background to life and has colored it deeply. I could go on but think I will save it for a future post Let me know when yours goes up with the Tears For Fears song in it!

I find a release in creating my own music. The excitement of hearing your finished work is a feeling you can't describe. Listening to others work inspires me and gives me ideas in the creative process.

I would not be myself if I couldn't run with what I am feeling. (No Boundaries)
