Music on blogs

As I'm sure many of you know, I have a music blog, but I don't put any music on it for people to download (apart from under "free music" which links to websites where you can download/stream tracks legally). I'm just wondering how people can get away with putting up music illegally on their websites?
I know that MP3 Blogs have little disclaimers saying "if you want us to take the music down, just contact us" &, as many people have pointed out, it would probably help my blog out a lot if I did upload MP3s for download on the site but I'm too worried/uncomfortable about doing it.
Can I have some opinions on it please? It'd mean a lot

It's much different if you are on a Canadian (or NON-USA server) .. e.g. interpretation of laws versus shut-down .. but, regardless there is always going to be a concern for the copyright issues.
I was doing good on my own music blog - until I decided to consolidate everything on the US server. I decided to go to the YouTube video route, and then Google bought YouTube and deleted about 65% of their videos and the ones on my blog.
I was going to convert it to a strictly music NEWS blog, or a community for rock bands and singers, but it is a little too much work for me at the moment (unless I can find someone to take that challenge).
Right now - for my birthday, my wife got me an Edirol midi/USB interface and with my Cubase software .. I've been experimenting recording myself play music on the keyboards etc .. Once I get the hang of it I'm just planning to upload .mp3's of myself, and screw the risk. I will also combine it with the free sites like www.epitonic.com/ and others like it .. and, maybe some affiliate linking to new releases.
I do sometimes upload .mp3's onto my server - from my own collection, but I usually mention that it is a temporary thing, and end up deleting it at the beginning of the next month (or the next time I do a meme if it's earlier) so I'm permanently not storing the files. -
As far as I can tell, those successful ones are the ones that either make lots of money, and can afford to pay the royalty fees .. or, the types that have disclaimers (like you said) that just wait until someone catches them.
If I had the skills, I think it would be okay to cut 10-20 second teasers and then link to the band's website or an amazon link ... so it's not like you are allowing to give the music away.
PS .. i use the wordpress plugin www.1pixelout.net/code/audio-player-wordpress-plugin/ .. do they have that installed in the wordpress.com site? -
Tag the music files...
On one of my blogs 60 Second Review I post songs with some reviews. I tag them with a sound bite that says. 60 Second Review, support the music...
Here's an example in this album review of Lupe Fiasco's album

I also run a music blog.. infonistacrat.hometownproject.org I have an ipod interface that you can listen to music on. I also post links to music I have found on the internet. There is plenty of everysong on the internet if you know where to look for it. Don't post it to your server.
