My external crashed - i need help plz

I dropped my external today and it wont work now.
I have really important documents on them, please help.

I get the following error message:

USB Device Not Recognized

One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.

What to do?

    This is pretty bad to be honest. The best you can do is take it to a computer repair shop, and you are lucky if they can save your data.
