   What is the easiest way to get started with FTP? How do I get a plugin into wordpress that way?

      Appleman, you can use a programme like Smart FTP. Then you need to type in your log in details in the FTP. As to the transfer, it's quite easy, just a matter of dragging the plug in folder from desktop to wp-content, themes folder on your FTP.
      
      After transfer, you should see it in wordpress admin, under plug in's. Then select activate.

   Not sure if you can with hosted wordpres, best way would be to use the code on the page

      I can never get the plug in to work by pasting the code. I do know FTP works fine with hosted wordpress.
      
      It's always hit or miss for me, trying to hack the code. If anyone can do it this way, I'd appreciate knowing exactly WHERE it should be pasted in.

      Have you tried going to templates - template editor - and editing single post, pasting it after [?php the_content('Read the rest of this entry'); ?]
      
      If you use the plugin there should be no need to use any code
