Hi all Been a long time since (thanks Tony for the nudge) I posted something here. Been super busy with my new home in southern Norway and other stuff.

Anyways, a magazine called The New Yorker contacted me a few months back about using one of my pics in a collage and now it is published.

I made a post about it here:
blog.thomaslaupstad.com/2008/11/07/my-picture-was-published-in-the-new-york...

I'm a bit proud that my work got a little recognition

Have you ever been published?

Congrats! @Anok I'm beginning to think you have a weird obsession with that guy.
    1. Anok
      I do!

But I also laugh because it reminds me of jungl, so it was only appropriate

  16. melindaville
    Wow--that's very cool! Congrats!

And yes, I have been published before! I wrote a textbook, and contributed a chapter to the book "Adolescence in America" and I have also written several articles that have been published in scholarly journals.
  17. Bricore
That's great! It's a really nice picture too.

To answer your question about have I have had things published, yes. I had a couple pictures printed in the local Marion Star a couple years back. It's not a big paper but I saved a few copies..(ok, a bunch of them.)

I also had patterns that I made (for loom knitting) that have been published before (4 of my patterns in one book, 2 different issues of Craft magazine, and a couple on a online e-zine) and that STILL puts me on cloud 9!

You did something to be proud of (I'd frame that picture if it was me.)

    Once again Congratulations!

      Thank you

Weird that you should mention a loom. Published this pic on my knitting blog of an amateurish loom that we made yesterday:
      knitting.thomaslaupstad.com/picture-of-simple-hand-made-loom/

Must be nice to be able to make your own patterns AND get published.
    2. Bricore
You did a really good job with that loom.

Hey, you might also like Kumihimo braiding. I braid ties for stuff that I knit (like hats with ear flaps, I just attach ties to them.)

You don't have to go buy a disk you can make one easy enough. I have how you do round braids and square braids on my blog too.

Here is the post I made on braiding in general:

Congrats jungl ... hopefully the NYer will keep your site as a reference now and look to get more pictures of yours published!

PS: when I click on your link
    blog.thomaslaupstad.com/2008/11/07/my-picture-was-published-in-the-new-york...

I get a 404 error message now - although I see it on the front page
    1. jungl
      Thanks

No idea what happened there. It suddenly stopped working... wordpress is weird sometimes (like I have no idea why some of the links in my sidebar has turned into a smaller font). The page works now after doing a save in the dashboard..
    2. RecycleCindy
Link is working fine for me. Maybe the problem is fixed now.
  21. jafabrit

Well done ........but well deserved too
  34. Bayho
Wow, congratulations! What a huge achievment! Will you have any more publications we have to look forward to? Your writing is excellent and your story was so refreshing to read. If I was published in any magazine I'd probably go buy 100 of those magazines! =) I think the aspect that captured me the most was the photgraphy of the mountains and the clouds. Makes me want to go out and take some pictures of my own. Congrats again!

Wow, I had no idea it was so big.
I have actually seen an increase in people searching for my name.
  39. candlepassion
Congrats!! You should frame the book or something so you can see your accomplishment everyday. If that isn't a pleasant mood booster, then I don't know what is! ;-) Best wishes and hope you get more published in the future.
