My posts are not appearing in google index, but they wer on page1 till yesterday

hey plz help
my posts were on page numbr 1 for their related search they were bringing-in visitors too.
But now only 2 of my posts are appearing on google index for site search "site:howto.totalh.com" , where others have gone
plzzz help me out
what could be reason for this

my top ranking posts like "hide folder behind image" have disappeared from google index, organic traffic down to zero

Hmnn. Urs seems to be a genuine problem. Try getting some backlinks form a couple more sites. I feel its a temporary issue and the pages will rebound soon. And one more thing. make sure you are not linking to banned neighbourhoods. I mean blacklisted sites. Or avoid too many paid links in case you have them.-
till now i m on my own only. no backlinks from any site only comments that i have posted on few sites are source for referral link, even i m not having any paid links.
just i launched my blog this 4th july and in a week, my pages started appearing on page 1 google for their corresponding searches
but out of 13 only 2 posts are visible in google index -
that happens. call it beginners luck or freshness factor but it does affect ur serp in starting phase. I feel they will come back in a few days. Else try ot submit a sitemap to google webmasters tool.
dont ask me how to use it. I dont have time to explain so much.

but i hav a doubt, RSS feed can be used as sitemap or not, coz mine is a frequently updated blog not a static website-
crawler sitemaps are xml ones same as that of rss feeds. So they should work. I read a post about that some where but i am not sure. I would rather handroll a xml sitemap myself.

the term write a writing was showing on no. 2 at serp but then i placed the blog catalog widget in my footer and the ranking dropped. Since that was the only thing that I had done with my site so i removed that now i am again at number 2. go through the recent changes that you might have made to your site and try revising them-
good suggestion. I have lost ranking after that too. I am going to chuck it out immediately.

- New posts bump older posts on the same subject and in the same niche off the SERPs every day. However, this is particularity noticeable when posts on the same subjects are published by more authoritative blogs than our own in the same niches. Without doubt we can witness these changes after Google does and PageRank update, as they just did.
Provided you aren't selling links, buying links and/or have not linked to sites that are doing the same, or to other bad neighbors your focus ought to be on creating new posts full of unique content. If you are linked to bad neighbors or to sites where links are being bought or sold, and you aren't buying or selling links then you can rectify this before the next Google PageRank update. -

As timethief has already mentioned: There is one very obvious reason: duplicate content. A lot of posts on your blog are neither original or unique. Fresh and unique content is what drives PR and being prominently featured on Google searches, that's all it takes.

- Well said and politely said too. What's been said may have been said far better in the authoritative blogs in the same niche. If so that will be a factor in the SERPs.

content has nothing to do with PR. Unless u assume that it raises some natural links for you. PR is all about backlinks. You could have worlds best content and still be PR NULL. y do u think wikipedia so vehemently links to every page it can on its own site. Not to mention the thousands of external links.

@WRITEAWRITING: you might be right because day before yesterday only i inserted blogcatalog widget in my siderbar and since then my posts went missing form google SERP my position was 2nd and 4th for 2 diferent search words.
@HUSDAL and @TIMETHIEF: I just performed copyscape search for my posts, I can say my content is unique as highest match was of 55 words with 1 site,that all words scattered and scrambled over that page.
my blog is semi techno blog, so i cant discover and write a unique OS, just i am sharing techniques that i have learnt and found it useful for others. In my words.-

it worked !!! thanks a lot WRITEAWRITING, yesterday night i threw off blogcatalog widget, and now today morning my posts are back in google SERP, though earlier my position was 2nd from top but now 4th, anyways i"ll revcover soon.
even google site index search started showing most of my highly popular posts again..... relief

that is cool, congrats!!!... I threw away entre card widget as well just to be safe. I am getting reasonable traffic from search engine so why waste time on entre card

I just this minute deleted the entrecard widget from my blog. I used to get quite a bit of traffic from entrecard but I no longer do since they started their paid advertising. I've been meaning to do this for a while now!
