I finally reach that painful $100 revenue from AdSense. It took me well over 9 months with two to three months dormanting with no blog entries as I almost gave up hope with the process. I have a blog post where I have a cute conversation with my son on how to spend that $100 in Man 2 Man on AdSense techtheman.blogspot.com/2007/07/man-2-man-about-adsense.html. And my son challenged me for the next seemingly impossible goal to real. Making money on AdSense ads turns out to be much harder than I thought but reaching this small reachable goal gives me some renewed energy and insights. Thanks to all friends and neighbors in BlogCatalog.

Thank you. I would suggest not to listen to others hearing how easy it is to reach the first milestone in few days. My experience tells me that making money from AdSense is all about hard work and informed knowledge from the right source. And having BlogCatalog community really helps and you have to keep trying to iron out the skills and tips that you learn from others. Not all 'money' tips work and most of them are shamefully cut&paste from others with twisted ideas not proven. Yes, there are many people who are successful and they have the right to brag about it, the clueless bunch, myself included, should stay on and not to wither and let AdSense keep the unreached $100 balance.

BlogCabins, you have a wonderful blog on movies. Ever since having two kids, movie is a thing in the past for me. I earn $4.00 for about two weeks in adsense. U think i can make it? i often showcase my blog to other sites thats why.
But i'm earning much more for those paid to review programs.-
Another good blog worth to play a visit. A good read and very pleasant stay in your blog. I like your template, layout and if you don't mind a critique or two, your banner is a bit congested. I love your footer but having the ads and too many text in your banner seem distracting from getting to your contents. Will revisit and offer comments and offer insights to share. Hope you do critiques for mine as well. Your donation notice is well noted and kudos to your efforts and generosity.

I'm at 18 dollars over the course of the first 3 weeks. Seems like alot, considering how recently I've made it.
I'm thinking it's because I have a blog meant for a very specific audience and the context ads are doing their job... Or I'm just misguiding my readers somehow with the layout. -_-;;

Congrats on the $100! I had a relatively quick first $100 (took a couple of months with a few referrals), but it's taken since Septmeber 06 to get close to the next $100. As it stands I'm a few dollars short of the next payment. Just have to be patient I guess...

shaydelgado, I can tell that you love blogging not for the money. I can see that in your writing and pictures. Very stylish way of presenting the pictures and lots of beautiful artwork in your banner and sidebar. Just my 2 cent, don't go for 'adsense' for the sake of money. It may really spoils the fun with frustration at time. If I knew what I know today, I would have completely taken AdSense out of the picture. With AdSense, our misery is their fortune. Will fav and revisit again.

When I visit your BlogCatalog profile, my 1st impression is that you have way too many blogs and I surely don't know which one to pick for a 'friendly' visit. Maybe you meant the title as 'political science student life' or something that is more on your personal blog. I have expectation in reading a blog and first clue come from title and next is content. First few months are the hardest but $1.30 in 1st month is not too bad if you ask me. All the best.

ladyinfluence, i just add you to friends and play a visit to spaceofinfluence.blogspot.com and you have some kool contents that I wish I have and your content is high-pay keywords as you have noted in your articles. But if you don't mind a critque, I think you can do better in the layout. For one, I see a lot of spacing that stretch the articles tall and I don't know if you do that intentionally. All in all, your blog is highly geared for monetizing topic and I am sure I will be chasing far behind you for AdSense payment. Just fav in technorati. All the best.

Yes, I do. You have a very unique blog with targeted content related to fishing. I am amateur but long time ago when I was single, my buddies went fishing with me in night time in pitch dark. This is many blogs later lol. This is just a new blog. I may not make 1.00 in 6 months. I gave up on it and now trying it again. My personal Blog made 3 cents in a month. $25 Bucks a year is not something i like talking about.-
We should all come out and talk about it. We all hate AdSense one time time or the other. At least I do. Instead of all those rich folks bragging about their success, we should brag our miseries.

I have to learn how to write about some things I feel passionate about and then go from there. There are teenagers out there making 1k a month talking about neopets!-

I'd *love* to maintain a blog about the metalicity of main-sequence stars and its implications for the formation of planetary systems: but who, aside from a few eggheads, would read it?
Wide interest base + passion about subject = reasonable chance for success? -
It is important to write things that you are passionate about. Forget about the $100 or the $0.02 cents you can make!!! You could have saved the $100 in not dinning out for a week or two. Passion, learning, people and love is what drive me to writing and photography. Anything related to money and fame only comes as a secondary reward.

Keep on blogging, the second check will take less time, and the one after even less... and one day, you will start receiving checks every month..
It took me 5 months to get my 1st one.. then 3 months later, I got another one. From this point, I started receive check every months.. that was in july 2006.-

Yeah, my son asked when I would make it to $2000 and I have not setup the timeline but I am working out the details. Having AdSense only will be a BIG mistake. I will go diversify with other channels. Comments and Suggestion are very welcome. Some google love sent your way. For link ads units, I find that click is not counted with revenue until the 2nd click on sponsored search goes through from the user. Some ads interest me and I explore it in your site. I am a bit too tired today and hence no review and I can't read your lenghtly articles -- I am damn tired in running the campaign with NOOOOO participation.

I just started a News Parody site and I have gotten $.65 so far. I thought I would make more money than that in the first month, but such is life. And now comes the BIG idea I have for those great souls working towards the $100 paycheck from AdSense. I AM going to start a movement for all people to offer backlinks in post, banner, blogroll to 3 candidates of their choice to help out on backlink. For instance, I pick 3 people for me to either blog about and offer links to their blogs and the next great soul come in and do the same to the next three. And we can keep the karma (whatever you call that) or favor. Detail will follow in the weekend when I have a clear vision what to propose to help friends not yet making to the $100 mark. Increase backlinks will increase your authority in Technorati and it is a favorable measure to search engine in calculating the pagerank of your page.
Stay on for the idea and jump in on this thread for your request for help with backlinks. And to those who made it past $100, your support is very much needed and in helping others, they will offer backlinks to you.

And hopefully, they all participate in this event -- I reserve my option to remove them in my post to add the next 3 I have in mind. And GeekIsSexy kind of lol on the $1 he earns from my eweek signup which I spend a good few minutes to put in all registration information from how much my company make and how I get to influence the IT decision. making that first $100 on adsense is always hard, i guess we just got to put in more effort on the contents part in your blog. nothing's gonna come out of it if your blog has no contents, so just post and post, thats about it and blend your adsense into your blog, make questions within the post and let your adsense ads be the answer to solve for your users...hope it is something useful that i am sharing...thanks!

You are absolutely right, content is one of the 4 pillars of importance that I learn from problogger.net. But having contents + higher page rank is key. With just the best contents and the best layout in the world would get you the loyal platy of 50 or perhaps 200 users and you won't go anywhere in making a substantial clicks/revenue from low traffic. I would put contents as 1st and promotion the 2nd step which involves jacking up the pagerank. And backlinks are the important quantity by which search engine measure on. And starting this movement is a way to increase backlinks for the participants. It is really a meme type of promotion in a lesser scale but just as effective for small volume bloggers like me and perhaps others on this thread. You can look at the content that I have created for users of Picasa, loyal customers of fuji f30, pentax k100d, and casio ex-z750 in both of my blogs. My average number of unique users have exceeded 225 this week and it is growing. But that does not get me anywhere in terms of higher CTR (click through rate). We need traffic from search engine to bring mass audience to see the contents. Without the search engine, your best content is only exposed to that 200 loyal users on a daily basis. Thanks for the great comment. I am with you on your point but I want to emphasize the importance of traffic from search engine and backlinks is one measure to improve. I've made a little more than ten dollars in a about a week or so. My blog that's listed here isn't anything important, just me and what goes on in my life. I have another blog that's linked there, and this weekend I'll be working on another one with another purpose. Nope, not gonna get rich from adsense, but that hundred dollars will eventually help out..lol-
If you made $10 in a week, I would not change anything. I play a visit and I think your daily life is interesting with insights and that is what interest audience perhaps, just my guess. Your short and writing style is something I can learn from. I will revisit, add as friend and neighbor, and find fav icon for technorati

I decided to start another blog that I have been working on off and on over the last 4 yrs, this time with a more permanent home. I dunno, we'll see what happens. Not too worried. I've earned my fist 100 with adsense in 3 months. That's like daily blogging. The money isn't really the best part... it's proving that you can earn from your blog and the sense of achievement.

Making money just from AdSense requires a substantial traffic in terms of number of impressions you get in a day and the my click through rate remains quite consistent over my course from 0 to $100 mark. First thing is to gather reviews from people on your blog and try to stay focused to put in contents and work on increasing traffics from directory submission, forum posting, social bookmarking and all the norms that people talk about.
