Name brand clothing for your kids? Are you kidding me?! I don't know about your kids but my kids grow like weeds. Why on earth would I spend $40, $50, or even 60$ on jeans that their only going to wear for a few months at most? And as for the brand name wearing babies...well...I tell you what, since you have that much money you should just send me some! I mean I can somewhat understand the argument behind buying name brand clothing for the older kids. At least they understand what the name brands are. And maybe your older children need that to feel confident amongst their peers. Ok...I got that! But babies have no idea who Ed Hardy is. They have no idea what Diesel is. They have no idea who Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren is. I mean come on! And don't try to argue the issue of quality because even if the name brand is better quality than the non-name brand, your child will grow out of it before the quality can really be tested. And don't be so naive as to think that your younger children are going to be happy with the hand-me-downs. Because they're not! I'm beginning to think that the name brand clothes for your kids and even more so for your babies is more for the parents than it is for them. Something psychological maybe?! Bottom line...SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO WITH NON-NAME BRANDS! Or you can just send me some money since you have so much of it.
On the other hand...
Who in their right mind is going to tell me what is and isn't meaningful to me? If buying my kids name brand clothing is meaningful to me, then it is! I shouldn't have to explain myself to anyone. Besides, it's not like I'm spending a lot on these clothes. There are ways to purchase name brand clothing for my kids without spending a lot of money. You just have to look harder, that's all. Also, quality does matter with Children's clothes! Children are a lot more active than us adults therefore, how well their clothing wears is important. My toddler has name brand clothing and non-name brand clothing and some of the non-name brands have holes in seems on on the knees and the name brand doesn't. Yes...my toddler! The one that grows out of his clothes within just a few months. Nobody can deny the fact that some name brand children's clothing has stood the test of time. And some kids don't mind the hand-me-downs. I've seen even after a year or two an outfit can still look 'in style'. And please don't forget how big of a confidence builder a name brand outfit can give a young child. Especially when they go to school and all their friends are wearing name brand clothes.
Do you have an opinion?

I think if I ever had children I would just buy whatever fits them and I can afford. I would be more worried about teaching them that brands don't matter, I don't think they are "confidence-builders". I would want my children to dress how they like without caring what others think. Encouraging them to develop their own sense of style without turning them into brand-obsessed clones would be my goal. I don't really care about brand vs. non-brand so it really wouldn't be a dilemma. Some "brand name" clothes are actually horribly made, I don't buy that brand name=quality, it's just marketing.

I think the prices of name brand clothing for children is outrageous.
Kids grow really fast, and destroy everything they wear if you aren't careful. While I certainly like well made clothes, I still can't justify spending a lot of money on something that will be torn, stained, painted on, pooped in, or outgrown before the season is over.
No way, no how. -
Kids in designer labels is just silly, I don't really agree with them for adults.
For me I like to buy a few quality items and mix them with cheaper stuff, but I wouldn't be seen dead in anything with a name brand emblazoned across it. -
Brand name clothes really have nothing to do with our children's confidence? I mean come on! Are we really going to go as far as thinking that our kids are going to not care what their friends and peers think? And what do they know about the difference between a good friend and a bad one? We can't be so naive as to think that our kids are going to know that name brand clothes aren't everything, regardless of what their so called friends think!

Name brand and confidence have nothing to do with one another.
Children are taught that if they don't have the latest, greatest, most expensive-ist items than they are less than by none other than their parents - who do the same thing with their friends and neighbors.
Keeping up with the Jonses is a learned behavior.

its the commercial system that makes us compete with fashion, I hates it when i was in school, I'm glad alot of schools are starting with uniforms, its one less distraction for the kids and saves alot of money..
