Cake. I couldn't live without cake. Or chicken sandwiches; I can't quit them. And there's no question I can't make it through life without chocolate!
(For proof, see an earlier discussion thread I posted:

This is one of those, "If you were stranded on a desert island, what three foods would you have to take with you?" questions.
And why? What makes these foods special?

Balti curry is a mild curry served in a metal bowl (Balti means bucket in Urdu) in Indian restaurants here, it's a very popular dish.
The Balti pie is just a normal pie but the filling is Balti curry.

Cheeseburgers, potatoes and chocolate. I wouldn't take chocolate on a desert island with me, but i couldn't live without it in normal life. And potatoes are the all purpose food. You can make them a 100 different ways.

Wheat, soy, potato...these are the staples I use the most. If I was on a desert island, these are what I would propagate. The island itself would probably have resources of its own.
-
So you'd go into the gardening business. This is awesome because I never expected people to look at this silly question from a survivalist stance. I was picturing the cartoon island of a little hill of sand with one coconut palm and maybe a monkey.
So what kind of soy would you eat LynneaUrania, edamame or curds or soy products, like soy hot dogs or something? -
Why not the basic soybean? You can make everything else if you have that.
If that island is the stereotypical rock with one coconut palm, I'd have to ask why that coconut palm still exists without saline poisoning. There would have to be a reservoir of fresh water beneath to allow it. If there's water, there's means to drink, clean, and to farm.
The monkey would probably be roasted for food and his bones made into fish hooks after a week or so. When people are hungry, watch out!

What kind of bread? What kind of pasta? Campanelle? Capunti? Casarecce? Cavatelli? Cechetti? Cencioni? Conchiglie? Conchiglioni? Corzetti? Creste di galli? Croxetti?
And those are just the "C's"!

Hmmm... let me think .. I don't "eat only to live", and treat food more than just some substance that helps me to survive...
My answer:
* Bananas, because I suffer from muscle cramps. Bananas alleviate the cramps.
* Potatoes, because they are the one solid food stuff you can live longest on.
* Plain black brewed coffee, because I'm addicted to coffee:) -

Scottmillerd: Yes, "A banana a day keeps the cramps away". Bananas are rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium.
I suffer from cramps in my calves and feet. I wake up with them. They sure do hurt. Cramps can be avoided by increasing the intake of calcium, potassium, and magnesium. -

1. Chips and salsa
2. Potatos of any form but my first love is for mashed potatos, esp garlic mashed potatos. They are my comfort food.
3. Spaghetti -

Ummm...let me think.
Cheesesteak subs....a sub that is made up of cheese and steak, and steak with cheese on top placed gently in between a submarine bun. Yep that's all three of them -

I could give up almost anything if it was going to kill me. I couldn't give up chocolate or beef...or...maybe cheese.

Whatever's in my fridge
Whatever's in the kitchen cabinet
Whatever else I can scrounge up in the kitchen
They're special because I'm feeling too lazy to go out and get anything else... -
Not a food person even though I have put on some weight in the recent past. Need sweets after every meal, love chicken and meat.

While none of these would be all that good on a desert island, they are three foods I find it hard to live without.
1) Cheese and sausage deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's. It's tart tomatoes and cornbread crust piled high with mozzarella cheese. It also helps that I go there when I have friends from out of town.
2) Hot dogs from Portillo's. A mark of a good hot dog is if you can order it plain - nothing on it except a poppy seed bun - and it still tastes like something. Portillo's has a dog with a secret recipe courtesy of Vienna Beef that I've never been able to replicate (though a mix of chili pepper, oregano, black pepper and other spices seems to come close).
3) Sliders from White Castle. What can I say? It's 3:00 in the morning and you're coming off something enjoyable, where else can you go but White Castle and pick up a "sack" (actual measuring unit of Sliders).
Upon reviewing this list, it could explain why I'm on Weight Watchers! -

coffee, cheese, chocolate (huh, they all start with "c" coindcidence?). But I suppose that wouldn't keep me alive on a desert island for long (happy and alert, though). On the island, I guess I'd want coconuts, limes and fish. That should cover a lot of the nutrients, plus, I could do a nice fish stew with it.

I'd bring coffee, potatoes (the little red ones), and cheese (cojack, if I have to pick a particular kind, as it's mild enough to enjoy with any...kind of potato, but I'd love to bring an assortment, with some gouda and some extra-sharp cheddar).
-
I've decided that, as coffee is a beverage rather than a food, I'll change that part of my answer to chicken. I can think of many ways to prepare chicken, cheese, and potatoes, separately and in combination, as well as the fact that live chickens will provide me with eggs. It's too bad I can't grow a cheese tree, though.
