Hi guys,

Sort of a hit and run here as I've got to be on the road - but I thought this was fascinating. A guy who walked the moon with Alan SHeppard claims we've been covering up contact with ET's for the last 40 years.

Usually I'd scoff at such claims - but how do you respond when the man making the claim has actually walked on an extraterrestrial surface?

Fascinating:

    Wow. That's new.

We have been in existance for thousands of years. Our planet has been evolving for billions. Who is to say there isn't a species that is over 1,000 years ahead of us on the curve?

We can fly, we can break the speed barrier and within 100 years we will travel at the speed of light. We are not that far off from being ETs to some other culture ourselves.

Frankly I don't see this as being something completely outside of the realm of possible.

The only people who can't and will not believe this are religious folk who demand we were placed on this planet 4500 years ago by an invisible man in the sky.
    2. thebigandyt
don't forget we had a bit of a false start with the dinosaurs, that would put us behind
  2. calais50
I wouldn't think that being an astronaut would make you any more privy to government secrets than anyone else, but interesting nonetheless.
    1. kdawg68
Indeed - just seems a bit closer than your average UFO hunter you see on T.V.
  3. faithsju243
And I know this probably makes me an ass for saying it but I can't help it...Does Dr. Mitchell know if ET really made it home?
    1. kdawg68
      LOL - good one!
  4. Norski
There's a good explanation for this: The real Alan Sheppard was kidnapped back in 1971. Apollo 14 had landed too close to the super-secret Fra Mauro formation installation, set up by the Galactic Protectorate.

The entity we've been seeing since then is an impostor, planted as a spy to infiltrate NASA. His real name is Glibtznarg.

To make a long story short, Glibtznarg started feeling guilty, around the time that Earth invaded Mars - again - with the Phoenix expedition. He's a rather inhibited chap, so instead of blowing his cover, he's using Sheppard's identity in an effort to expose the Galactic Protectorate.

    Almost makes sense, doesn't it?

Seriously, I think calais50 is on to something here.
    1. kdawg68
Very good. Yes I agree it's a bit ridiculous - but still interesting, yes? Hey, at least it beats another "jesus" discussion.

When an Astronaut talks about Aliens people listen and believe.
When Jeunelle talks about Aliens people laugh and say I'm on crack. lmao
    1. kdawg68
Well, he didn't mention any gladiatorial combat.
    2. Jeunelle
      BUMMER
    3. kdawg68
Why? You could introduce them to terrestrial forms of combat - perhaps train the first E.T. gladiator. Of course, they may have to settle for the campy American Gladiators nowadays - but still. I bet E.T. would be deadly on the rings.
    4. Jeunelle
Yeah but suppose the Aliens are allergic to hotdogs
My gladiators eat hot dogs....There plump when you cook em.
    5. kdawg68
Well...you could always violate them with hot dogs. You know, for scientific experimentation purposes.
  6. ThriftShopRomantic
Heh, I knew before I clicked the link that that was going to be Edgar Mitchell. He was an alumni of the university I graduated from. Everyone indicates that while very intelligent, he's also kind of... eccentric... about a number of things. His view on aliens being a biggie.
    1. kdawg68
Interesting. I appreciate your familiarity with the subject and thank you for sharing. I remember seeing an astronaut (may have been Sheppard) in Houston when I was in Elementary School. I asked him if he believed in Aliens and he told me point blank that none of the Moon landing guys were non-believers. Obviously that's a far cry from proof-positive, but still intersting. Of course, I suppose you'd suspect that someone willing to risk their life for space exploration might be inclined to carry such beliefs.
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
I wish I could recall right now the statements I've seen him make. I just recall thinking how they weren't even as based in science as you might expect.

I'm not trying to minimize his accomplishments, of course. Being an astronaut has to be a life-changing experience, plus requires a lot of bravery and knowledge I could never hope to have.
    3. kdawg68
Oh no doubt - I think you're take on this guy is quite interesting as you have some experience with his comments. That certainly helps put things in perspective to say the least.
  7. crkian
He was the 6th man on the moon, isnt that like being the last one picked for sports at school
    1. kdawg68
but he was the first to take a moon-bride!
  8. Anok
How much you wanna bet he dies soon, of "complications from a routine check up". *cough*coverup*choke*
    1. kdawg68
The part that troubles me is that he seems to believe in Roswell. I know, I know - that's like gospel to the UFO faithful - but in my opinion it was a 1970's mythical creation loosely based on facts by that freakazoid Stan Friedman (the weird guy with the glasses and beard on EVERY UFO show).

Edit: I say 70's creation because NO ONE seems to have talked about it from the time it happened until Friedman wrote about it and turned it into this huge "cover up" conspiracy in the 70's. I realize Roswell didn't occur in the 70's. Just want do point that out before I get accused of such.
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
As far as I recall, he believes in, like, virtually everything. Sort of the way Arthur Conan Doyle believed in fairies.
    3. ender
wait. TSR. seriously, now. are you saying that faeries don't exist????

      :O

i'm pretty sure i've seen plenty of faeries myself.
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
Mr. Conan Doyle's interpretation might have been slightly different than yours, Ms. Monkey.
    5. Anok
I have no idea - I know nothing today.

I am the sucky know-nothing ninja today
    6. kdawg68
See - the aliens tok anok and removed her ability to think. They don't want her pondering this. It's like that Queensryche album - Operation Mindcrime.

On second thought - it's nothing like that.

Slightly off-subject but still interesting. Did you know that the majority of people in Iceland believe in elves or are not willing to rule out their existence? Sometimes roads or buildings are diverted if it is believed the elves will be disturbed.

    2. calais50
ROFL My great-great aunt who is about 95 from Ireland truly believes in fairies.
    3. faithsju243
@calais50 ok fairies and elves maybe not but ET come on Steve Spielberg cast him in a movie he has to be real besides Dr. Mitchell can attest to the coverup.

Ha ha I am loving the direction of this discussion.
    4. thebigandyt
We're the same over here, we have tonnes of fairy forts. dense clumps of trees that no-one will touch because of bad juju
  10. kevingoodman
I think this would be a lot more interesting if Dr. Mitchell hadn’t shown a bias for the unexplained. He has been interested in psychic phenomena since before he was an astronaut and claims his unconfirmed cancer was cured by a psychic healer. That said he was a navy test pilot, a naval officer, a NASA official, and his doctorates is from MIT. Is he just expressing an opinion or is he claiming details that he was briefed or seen confidential documents?
  11. slurmsMcKenzie
very interesting, thanks for posting. Why is he coming out with all this now if its true? doesn't make a lot of sense unless with age hes not as sharp as he used to be...
  12. PetLvr
Well that depends on your viewpoints on 2 things:

    1) Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes following their 1971 mission.

    >> Everybody knows that they didn't land on the moon until the mid-1980's .. it was all a hoax in the '60's and '70's .. perpetuated by the .. well,

    2) FORMER NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission ... was 77

    >> Well, I'm sure his mind must wander a bit.

I believe that "aliens" exist and could have visited our world because it's an awfully big universe but .. why would they come here?
    1. Norski
      "...why would they come here?"

      Some ideas:
      • Cheap beer
      • No customs inspectors
      • They're Lost
      • They didn't -
They're native to this planet, we're the aliens whose ancestors crash-landed and got amnesia, they're really shy and/or live underground - and besides we smell bad, so they avoid us
    2. kdawg68
I'm not a subscriber to the moon landing hoax scenario. I think it happened. I can't imagine we would've undergone the trials and tribulations of the tests to get there.

Yes, I know all of the supposed proof - the shadows, the wind, all of that jazz. I've just (in my opinion) seen ample explanation for each.
  13. Norski
Here's what I think is another related new story: www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,,24069817-5001021,00.html

And the Kerrang! Radio interview: www.kerrangradio.co.uk/Article.asp?id=804160&spid=

Dr Edgar Mitchell was on the moon with Alan Shepherd - and I still say that the Galactic Protectorate / Shepherd impersonator story is as plausible as some of the thing I've heard over the years.

BTW, this has been a fun thread. Thanks.
  14. clioandme
Spacewalker picked up too much radiation while on the moon?
    1. Norski
Could be. Not likely, since this is just one of the dozen Apollo astronauts who walked on the moon - and of the eighteen who either walked on the moon or orbited it for an extended period.

Unless he's particularly susceptible, I'd think that there'd have been some sort of exotic perceptions showing up in the others, too.

There are more mundane explanations - and I don't know enough of Dr. Mitchell to guess what's less improbable:
      • Cynical view:
Dr. Mitchell is cashing in on his position, with what could be a lucrative series of books, videos, interviews, and speaking engagements
      • Physiological view:
Space radiation, something in the water where he lives, paint from the remodeling job - whatever it was, scrambled his brain and now he's remembering things that didn't happen
        • Or, intriguingly, he's accessed one of those templates that may exist in our visual cortex - it's been pointed out that quite a few of the space aliens have a remarkable resemblance to babies: big heads, big eyes, no nose to speak of, tiny mouth - and that the 'space alien' sightings may be a result of people's brains imposing the templates on what they remember --- interesting idea
      And the list goes on.

Or, who knows: They may be keeping us from knowing that brain-sucking aliens are waiting for us to get numerous enough to warrant a harvest.

      Pleasant dreams.

A moon Walker..is that Michael jakson? (ha ha..ha ha ha)
    1. kdawg68
Jacko is of course of lunar origins. It's the only way to explain the effects our atmosphere has had on him.

Of course, according to Farrakhan and company, their are others on the earth who are of lunar origin.
    2. acousticguitarist
      Who is Far... whatever?
    3. kdawg68
Louis Farrakhan - leader of the "Nation of Islam"

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Farrakhan

The section on "The mother plan and Ezekiel's Wheel" is what I'm referring to. You'll see references to the "original scientists" in the wiki article (I know, I know - it's wiki) - if you dig deeper to other sources, you'll see all kinds of claims, particularly one about a certain group living on the moon whose scientists created white people.
    4. acousticguitarist
      Thanks

I know hat john Blumrich wrote abook that I read 30 years ago on the issue of Ezekial and designed a craft around it.

    @Ender & TSR

Regarding fairies (which is surprisingly baffling me on how to spell correctly):

This thread over at my friend Raincoaster's blog has what has to be the record for WordPress comments. I love it - you may enjoy some of our banter on there. Doubtless your comments would be awesome!

    raincoaster.com/2007/04/01/mummified-fairy-remains-found/
  18. acousticguitarist
Well if that is true and there is a disclosure, I hope that we receive the correct information and not the misinformation package . The info given would no doubt be only a miniscule piece of the whole picture. Many of the small ones are usually androids.. like my friend RTD2 but with better personalities. I can't believe that a guy like that would say so little.

And it's true that NASA doesn't track ufo's, that is done by they other agencies and information is not shared.

But really what difference does it make if there is a cover up, what benefit would it be that there were extra terrestrials from outer and inner space walking around the earth. If there is, there is still no change in the way humans interact with each other.

The fact that any person alive today doubts the existence or does not know somebody that has had contact with aliens is incredible to me.

The misassumption that is going on is that they are all the same, from the same place, with the same agenda.

And even if a Venusian or somebody/ some entity visited the Whitehouse, what difference would it make

I think what is more important is getting our own little human species together and just enjoy the beauty of the stars (if you can see it through the smog) with or without odd looking neighbours.
    1. kdawg68
I don't doubt aliens, I just break down the potential for us to have physical contact with them using something similar to Sagan's method.

You'd have to figure out how many stars there are - how many of them we think have planetary systems/orbits stable enough to support life in order for intelligent life to form - how many of those actually develop life - how many of those then develop intelligent life - how many of those develop the technology for space travel - and then the big kicker, how many of them are in existence at the same moment in space-time as us (as opposed to say a million "years" ago).

My guess is that life is prevalent in the universe - but the prospects of us making contact with intelligent life in our history I think are a bit debatable. I think we grossly underestimate the vastness of space and time.
    2. aningeniousname
I believe there is a race of crystal worshiping preying mantids from beyond the sun.

The interesting thing about alien life and religion is that the Bible doesn't explain the history of God, the angels and that sort of thing. Could it be that the "higher powers" in the Bible are actually aliens?

There are numerous alien references in the Bible too.
  22. bloggernoob
there a ron howard documentary. i think it's called "other side of the moon" or "shadow of the moon" anyway, i think i know who that astronaut is. he mentions his ET encounters and nasa coverups. pretty amazing.

I personally believe that there are intelligent being that live outside of our solar system. but at the same time, i doubt that we'll come into contact with them in our lifetime. intelligent human existence is a small fraction of a fraction of the timeline of the universe. It seems highly unlikely that we'd cross paths.
  23. cooper
I am not into Aliens, but was watching Larry King one night and there were three different people on, can't remember who I was semi asleep, talking abut Aliens and how they have been here for years and the government knows about it.

Similar instances as Rosewall in Japan only Japan has been taking advantage possibly of alien technology for years on and on.

There are even those who think the Aliens are......us,,,,,come back in time........

    yea seriously.

Of course there are other forms of intelligent life, do you really think we are the only inhabitant of the universe, or the most intelligent.

    Are they here?

    Maybe.
  24. Lucyvp
I believe in a government coverup of the knowledge of(and perhaps the contact with) aliens. I also believe there's been a persistent campaign to paint the whole subject as something to ridicule, so that people who value their respectability and reputation don't try to investigate the facts. There is a world-wide opinion that people who are interested in ufos etc are loonies. It shows in some of the posts here - people don't dare talk about the subject without making it a joke.
    1. ttiger
The difference between believing that the existence of aliens is possible or probable in the billions of lightyears of space and that multiple governments have managed to cover up daily anal probing for 60 years is night and day. (or Reptile and Grey - chortle.)
    2. Lucyvp
See, another joke at believer's expense. You are keeping the coverup campaign chugging along nicely.
    3. acousticguitarist
I don't mind if there's a cover up, it doesn't really matter. All it means is we can comfortably go about our business thinking we are highly intelligent and are superior to all other creatures terrestrial or extra t. We don't have to consider that it is important to embrace the diversity that exists in mankind, we can assume we've got it together and the Governments can go about their business stealing money from the populace for their own personal contingency plans.
    4. Lucyvp
Wouldn't you like to know though, what their reasons for covering up are?
    5. Lucyvp
I have a tinfoil hat in every colour to match my outfits
    6. acousticguitarist
Lucy: I've studied the subject closely for 35 years and I'm comfortable with what conclusions I've come to
    7. acousticguitarist
Hey Tig, you are hurting my brain "Will you cousin and cat go to heaven"
    8. ttiger
i am probably the first cosmic agnostic

if cat has 9 life do they go in heaven each time they die? they go to heaven then came back to earth then die then go back to heaven?
    9. acousticguitarist
Lucy, I don't think it's a good idea to really on any Government to educate a person about UFO's and Aliens, in the same way it is not such a good idea to rely on the mainstream media as a source of news or a church/religion to educate us about God.

The problem with ET and other phenomena is the more you investigate the more complex, diverse and unbelievable it becomes. It is an area of misinformation, nut cases, private agendas for and against and the jyou investigate, it gets to the point where Truth is stranger than fiction.

The human brain at this point of its evolution is not yet capable of embracing many of the concepts relating to other worldly life.
  25. bladeaxe4
people really dont knw who aliens really are ! lol, once they knw they will never try more effort to knw further On
    1. kdawg68
Wow - then whoever quoted the original article butchered his statements - or he's backtracking a bit.

The original article had a flare of "I've got definitive information" - now it's a bunch of N.M. farmers claiming they were part of a saucer-crash cover up.
