For the last 5 years alternative medicine therapies have been the mainstay of my life. I do not respond well to conventional therapies and I have multiple allergies. I live with chronic pain and I’m subject to acute pain crises. Among the causes I’m passionate about, it’s access naturopathic health care and homeopathic products and treatments.
I’ve been very busy doing some political lobbying and I have some good news to share with you in my latest blog post. I hope you will stop in and read about what I've been busy with. thistimethisspace.com/2008/06/13/natural-health-products-and-me/

There has never been a death in Canada caused by a natural health product. Considering that there are multiple deaths every year caused by common foods such as peanuts and shellfish, it is clear that natural health products are extremely safe.
Almost three in every four Canadians consume natural health products - vitamins and minerals, homeopathic medicines, Chinese herbal preparations and the like. When you consider the health benefits of natural health products, it becomes clear that the real danger in regulating them is to “over-regulate” them off of the market.
Discussion questions:
(1) Do you use natural health products?
(2) Are you concerned about the over-regulation of natural health products?

Yes, but I'm not going to go into which ones.
I'm pretty sure the FDA in the US would screw it all up with regulation, since it's in the hands of people who don't believe in this stuff anyway. It has to clean up its own house first. Dunno how things work in Canada.
In Germany I'm guessing there is some regulation, because I've had to buy homeopathic medicines in the pharmacy. Good thing about that setup, though, was that my insurance over there actually covered these prescriptions, which many doctors will prescribe. We chose doctors who did both homeopathic medicine and the regular stuff. I liked having that kind of person. I miss it here, where all the doctors I've had have no training in this area. -
What my post and the source links in it explain is what has happened in Canada with regard to natural regulation.
Naturally, I support regulations that require labeling of all contents. And, I feel the same way about any prepared food products as well. The corporations can cry the blues all they want and they can threaten us with higher prices.
My bottom line is I want my government to require labeling because I want to know exactly what I am ingesting and I want continued access to medicinal herbs, other plants and homeopathic preparations that have been available to us for many years and, in some cases for centuries.
I did not support the draconian measures that were proposed in the new regulations and I decided to make it clear to my government that I didn't. Therefore, I was involved in a huge citizen's lobbying campaign that convinced our Health Minister to do an about face on the proposed regulations. The people have spoken and what they want is to separate natural health products regulations from pharmaceutical regulations. -
Check out your images again on the post. They're not coming through. I had wordpress.com act strange like that a couple weeks ago.

@Mark
The free hosted bloggers at wordpress.com are the unwitting beta testers for wordpress software. I'm sick and tired of dealing with the image problems that have been created by the 2.5 and 2.5.1 upgrade. On my wp.org install I get no "browse" button option to upload from my computer.
Thanks for telling me there was a problem. I could view them fine using firefox. I simply deleted all the images. For other with worpress image problems here is a useful post onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/05/20/wordpress-image-uploading-troubleshoot...
