I thought I had advertising covered on my blog when I signed up to Project Wonderful... but I have companies asking how much it would be to display their widget on my blog. I guess Project Wonderful is for more independent brands.

I have absolutely no idea how much to charge and I just don't have the time to research this thoroughly.

I think I get about 1000 visitors a month (depending how often I blog) ... what sounds like a good cost? What would you pay? All replies welcome, I just want to give this guy an answer so it's dealt with regardless of the outcome. Thanks!

Is there a way to let them set the price (and you can accept or reject the offer)? This way, they may set a higher price than you would have thought (and you get an idea of what they're willing to pay).

Yeah, I considered that, but I don't really want to go back and forth with the emails for ages about it.. but I will do just that if I don't get a clear answer in about 2 days or something. Thanks for your response!

some blogs charges between $50 a month and $90 a week depending on the space, but I don't know how many visitor they have, I think more than a thousand.

It depends - for my business arena the weekly to monthly average is:

    10.00 - 20.00 for a text link placed at blog owner's choice
25.00 - 50.00 for text link in highlight section
    25.00 - 50.00 for anywhere 125x125
    50.00 - 100.00 for 125x125 in top section
    30.00 - 75.00 for middle section
    75.00 - 150.00 for banner 460 anywhere placement
    150.00 - 300.00 for top 460 banner billing
100.00 - 1000.00 for highlight article (permalink article)
    100.00 - 2000.00 for special promotion
    50.00 - 300.00 for widget placement

There are other places and prices as well - but for the CASINO Industry you can go lower or higher depending on your traffic.

You could --- and this is just an IDEA - and one I might use:

    do a

BID FOR THIS AD SPACE post/link area/banner spot

if you're a really REALLY Big site - then you can go for higher charges.

    More traffic means more money.

HOWEVER KEEP IN MIND - LInKS that point off of your site - takes away MONEY from other links ON your site.

You effectively want to keep people on your site and keep them coming back.

    You have to sell yourself.

offer a HIGH END promo - at a "TRIAL" Discount. Offer a 50.00 placement for 20.00 --- and if they want to continue they can stay in at 25.00... Yanno?

    It's YOUR blog.

How much is YOUR blog worth to you?

How much is that realestate worth to you?

The prices above are ONLY examples of OTHER sites I have seen - and are NOT reflective of the prices for my site.

    Thanks for the advice!

I have decided to go with 'how much is your blog worth to you' - that comment stood out the most to me, and I like my blog to be clean and not loitered with adverts so if they don't want to pay what I want then oh well!

Project Wonderful recommends that you don't put a minimum rate on advertising. At least initially. I experimented with it for a while. Seems that having no minimum bid works best for me.

Wow tough topic. I am moving to my own domain soon and have been wrestling with how much to charge for ads as well. I still am a bit confused, but in the meantime I want to share these two articles I came across while researchng the topic nuvonova.
