Okay here's my question. How do you feel about getting sourced as credible information by news sources? In this day and age social networks have become apart of news sources. For example if a natural disaster occurs in Australia like the recent fire that occurred last month. Not only was big new sources like CNN, BBC, AP etc cited.
There was quite a bit of first hand information coming from the social networks like twitter, blogs, you tube, stumble etc The bigger the disaster, the more social networks become buzzed with first hand information.
So here's where I'm asking for some feedback, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right area, please move it to appropriate one if neccessary. I'm helping with the development of a site: bit.ly/Ori59 (or ubalert dot com)
A blogger can sign up, and report an incident regarding a natural disaster, enter a short summary of the incident. Then source their blog post as the source.
I'm trying to get some feedback about it to help make it easier for users to post, and share. So what other networks should I corporate? We're already looking at twitter, facebook login etc.
What other things do you think we should be incorporate to promote blogger type of people to use this service? Gravatars? Open ID?
The other thing is I'm tired of seeing my own face being the only one show up in the members section, so if you want to sign up to add some color to it I'd appreciate it too =P The reward would be if you posted about an incident on a disaster/epidemic topic, and want to link back to your blog you will be free to do so.
Thanks in advance guys.

I was looking in the world hunger thread, and it sparked an idea on a way for a blogger to use the site to gain presence about a relief effort.
Say a natural disaster occurs. As an update you can possibly notify and link to a post regarding people trying to help with the disaster.
ie: epidemic happens. You blog about it, and you blog about a way to help it. You post an update to the disaster regarding this with a link back to your blog.
