yes, social media has the potential to be a revolution (in a manner of speaking) for democracy. It is the great quandrum which the likes of James Madison and Andrew Jackson lamented: that the "common people" haven't the power to mobilize as a united force for their own interests. to this social media shows great promise... the other element--the will to act vs. silent submission before hierarchies--has a way to go still.

THE other possibility, without knowing what 60% equals, is that the Iranian government has killed 60% of your visitors. I would leave an lol, but it would not really be funny.

@acousticguitarist
What do you mean by "going on"? Is yours around a 300 page views per day drop?
You didn't answer me above. I published 2 posts. I don't usually do one on my blogging tips blog for Bloggers Unite. I didn't see a drop in stats on my personal blog on my domain. I did see one on my wordpress .com blog though.

I'm so exhausted. I have been working since 5 AM and it's 10:15 PM. I finally finished all the bookkeeping for the month. I was going to write and publish another Bloggers Unite post and answer comments on both blogs but I'm thrashed. I guess there's nothing we can do about lost traffic so I'm accepting that and moving on.

Are you guys being cyber boycotted or something?
I have put a lot of work into my blogging tips blog.
And I'd hate to think that because I'm a pacifist.
I wrote the Blogger Unite post from my heart:
- The reach of the grass roots media allows us to express our support for Iranians in what is bound to be a long struggle for human rights and freedom. I allows us to strip the “otherness” away and acknowledge and advocate for their democracy. It also allows us to look deep within ourselves and acknowledge that government is the mirror that reflects the state of society. And as we view both the inner and outer landscape, let us pray that the shift required to bring freedom and peace to Iran will come soon.

hard to say celtic, but when you've got some of the best blogs in a niche, it's a worry. I wonder if there's something that has been done to wordpress.com in general. The results are too weird to just be a coincidence.

I know wordpress.com in general is blocked in quite a few countries so I'm not sure if there is more blocking going on all of a sudden or not. I know it's now blocked in Guatemala and has been blocked in Turkey for some time and so on and so forth. The other option is no one wanted to read about it. I mean if your traffic usually oomes from searches and you are not high up on the list for that kind of blog post it seems normal it would drop.
