Have you noticed a lower adsense earnings now that adsense implemented a new policy regarding clickable zones?

problogger illustrates the clickable zones and the non clickable zones

this definitely lowers publishers chances of making more money from Adsense.

A lot of people I know are complaining with November figures, but personally I haven't experienced any unusual. I guess .. at the most basic observation .. "placing ads so people accidently click on them" isn't a good business stategy.

I am reminded of one blogger about a year ago complaining, that after he and his 6 buddies were clicking all the adsense ads on his blog and he earned $800 in his first month - he got banned .. and wondered why.

thanks PetLvr but what if people are really interested in the ads so they click on them, but not the clickable zones, they reached the site, got what they want, yet you as publisher aint paid for their clicks. That's the worst that could get. but anyway, that's the rules..

Rules tell you not to click the ads, your spending other people's money.
Not to put "Click ads to help support this site" notices on your sites.
    So getting banned is expected.
The lower rates also have to do with so many ads being out there.
Our google income has drop dramatically over the past year.
It's getting to the point where I may use that ad space for something else.
Even my beta account has lost it stride and value.
I believe the Over Kill of these ads have caused the drop in $ per click value.

thanks rozie.. i too have thought of removing adsense ads in my blogs and replace them with adbrite or bidvertiser. they seem to pay better now than adsense.

We took a beating this year (07) we averaged $8,000 a year the first couple of years, now we'll be lucky to break $1,000. That's a big hit when you consider the prime real estate they take up.
We have adbrite, but haven't pushed it yet, maybe that will be the next move.
Just want a constant flow of $, not looking to be Gates, just make ends meet.
The hours we put in lol we're probably doing sweat shop work.

I don't know about you, but on my blogs the number of clicks hasn't decreased since this new 'clickable zone' kicked in. I still get betweet 10 and 20 clicks a day, however I can't buy a street hot-dog with 20 clicks
There was a time (two months ago) when a single click was worth $0.8 now you need loads of clicks to get that "kind of money".
I don't think google is concerned about this as there are way too many publishers for google adsense.

i used to get over a dollar a click now its as low as 01 cents to .80cents. its very rare to get over a dollar a click.

My adsense income and click thru has actually increased over this month on previous months so it has not had an affect on me.

Even though I am a piblisher I think it is a good move as it is better for the advertiser and also the person on your page. There is nothing worse than accidently clicking an ad and having to click back to carry on reading an article of interest.

Yes this may reduce some publishers income, but this can also increase reader loyalty in the long run.

I have noticed a lot of people talking about this same issue.I have not noticed much change on my site though.I think it will work out fine in the long run.

Ultimately this should be a good thing. If fewer accidental clicks occur then the conversion rates will increase which will result in higher competition for the individual clicks and higher spending by advertisers who, with a higher ROI can afford to pay more per click.

The only people, long term, hurt are those relying on accidental clicks.

that's a good observation. there's a good side to the new rules. thanks for pointing that out.

Good points Dane. At first, I thought my Adsense earning will be affected with the new policy that was implemented but it worked the other way around. My daily adsense earning has increased by 15%.
