I just found a website that is copying my posts word for word onto their site.

After talking to a few friends - I have been advised that this is a new tactic for BLACKHAT Seo to BRING down higher ranking sites - because Google Penalizes for duplicate content.

What do you think of this tactic - and have you ever heard of it before?

Keep in mind - I am still learning - so could a site that is literally SLURPING my site's posts be beneficial???

Or is it extremely harmful?

Here's the website:

www.casinobonuscode.info/

So those of you who know my site - seeing this duplication - WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I've already contacted the webhosting place... But not sure where to go from there.

Thanks.

    Sounds pretty sleazy to me.

Yeah... at first I thought it was really cool - cause you know - double advertisement - using all my bonus and affiliate codes.

But I got advised that this is a nasty trick used to bring sites down in google ranking - and is NOT cool to have.

      So it really upset me.

Also - it is used to pull someone else's site up - if a higher ranking site is keyed - then using their content can bring your site up to their level.

I just think it's NASTY Mean.

It probably won't work. The idea that you get "penalized" for duplicate content is a bit of a misstatement: Google ignores duplicate content. If the other site were the one Google designated as the primary source, it would ignore your content. However, Google does make an effort to determine which is the true source, and there are several clear markers here. Your blog has PR and this one doesn't; presumably your blog is older and, most important, the internal links point back to your blog.
