For a while now, a lot of people have hated the comment feature on blogger/blogspot. Mainly because of the sign in issues but that was resolved a while back.

Finally blogger/blogspot have released an inline comment feature, which means the comment box is directly under your post and not in a pop up box or another page.

You have to log on to Blogger in draft dashboard to enable it, but from there it is very simple to do.

I have been using it for the last couple of days and it is much better.

One of the things I'd been worried about would be that it would mess up my existing comments. But everything transitioned to the new format instantly and easily.

It really pretty much just involves clicking one new check box in the Blogger draft version.

It seems to be easier for commentors. (And it looks a lot better and less confusing, too!)

You didn't have to add any code?
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
No. I just went into drafts.blogger.com and clicked the option to have it on the page.
    3. crpitt
Its just that for some blogs, especially those using a customized template, you have to add a line of code.

That is still very easy to do, honest

Thanks for letting us know. I will definitely enable it.

It is much better, the folks that comment on my blog that don't have a blogger account like it a lot more too.

It'd be nice if mine had that embedded content option to choose, but it doesn't. (?)
    1. crpitt
Its confusing but yep its only they if you log on in blogger in draft account, which everyone has but not everyone knows about
    2. ChicaX
I don't trust the unfamiliar.. LOL I'll keep it in mind though. I like to let the new things sit for awhile, because they will most likely be tweaking and changing things as always.
    3. crpitt
I will let you know if it gets buggy

Thanks Claire and Jenn! I had no idea about the Blogger in draft either (learn something new everyday ). I'm going to try it out and see how it goes.
    1. crpitt
You can set it as your main dashboard if you want to, writing posts is a little different through it though.

`nice. thanks for letting us know.. I'd just installed cBox on my blog this morning!
    1. crpitt
      No problem

      What's cBox?
    2. mantiz

That's good news for Blogger, Claire.

I also like the Blogger in Draft version of Blogger. Not on Blogger anymore, but when I was, that is where the newest widgets appeared first.
    1. crpitt
Quite a lot of people don't know about the feature though or that they have access to it.

      Hopefully more do now
    2. clioandme
Yeah, it's like Blogger is trying to keep it a secret or something. Sure, they talk about it on their blog, but I've never seen a link to it from inside the dashboard.
    3. crpitt
I agree, they need to work on that.

    very NICE!!
I am adding it to my blogs right now.

I prefer the pop-up box ... that way it keeps the blog post there and I can comment in a different window ... and it's easier to return to the blog after commenting ... not having to use the back button. I find without the pop-up box it takes a lot longer to visit & comment, and often it locks-up my computer ... even when using firefox. If I know a comments section doesn't open in a new window, I usually use the right click & have it open in a new window anyway ... it just saves me time & there's less scrolling.

Not sure if anyone else has had similar problems ... based on what I see here I guess not! lol

I donot have that function i just have page or pop up~
  14. jan4insight
I've never understood what the problem with the old-style Blogger comment page was. I guess because that's what I've always used, it seems normal to me. So you go to a new page, big deal. I prefer that to a pop-up box because my O/S blocks pop-ups with a vengeance. I think I'll stick with what I've got, thank you.
  15. Majik
I just added it and so far I like it. All three of my blogspot blogs now have the comment form embedded. I hope it will increase the number of comments or at least make it easier for others to comment.
  16. Deynii
does it work with customized layouts like mine?
    www.twistedsilence.blogspot.com
cuz i have tried it and it still doesn't work.
    what are your suggestions?
  17. chrissymarie321
Cheers Claire, just checked out your blog and it does look great....
Hey, just done it on mine too
    Thank you
    1. crpitt
No, this discussion is about the blogger comment box.

Now burn your link with fire.
    2. greencurmudgeon
      @crpitt

Fire seems much too good for that link. Perhaps syphilitic aardvark urine. We at least know where a limitless supply is available.
    3. crpitt
Your right! I was far too lenient

      Anin!!!!

Ha Ha, crpitt's going to kill you for spamming her thread!
    2. crpitt
      Gosh! I wouldn't do that...........
    3. FreakSmack
      A good maiming perhaps?
  20. Zpoet
I already had this, thankfully. Gosh, I didn't know it was that bad before!
  21. BeamingBalance
I think my blog is already set up this way? And I'm pretty sure if you comment, you can still see the post and other comments in the same window.

Now you have me doubting myself (i.e. if this is "new") so I'll have to check!
