We've just launched another new feature here on BlogCatalog that many of our members requested. BlogCatalog users now have the ability to tag and make notes about the neighborhoods they join. You can use the notes and tags as way to quickly reference what a blog is about or help give users mroe insight into what a blog is about.

When you join a new neighborhood you will now be prompted to add some tags and notes, these items are optional and you can click 'skip this step' if you wish.

You can also visit the neighborhoods tab on your profile to add or edit and tag and notes for neighborhoods you have already joined, as well as use your tags to filter your neighborhoods.

So what are you waiting for? go join and tag some neighborhoods! If you tag 20 or more neighborhoods with 2 or more tags we will even boost your blogrank for each of your blogs by 5 points.

If you have any feedback, complaints or even compliments leave them below.

What would be even cooler, is if the tags that the people use in their blog and have on their blog profile just "poof" went into that tag section.

Great job though, I may have to join more neighborhoods now.

once users start tagging more neighborhoods you should see a section below the tags offering you clickable suggested tags that you can add to your tags.

      Ooooh that will be nifty!

Excellent feature! Can we tag users sometime in the future?
    1. thegoodknife
that is a definite possibility! BlogCatalog really could use a member directory.

w00t! ♥ Thanks so much for this Daniel. ♥
    It's exactly what I wanted.

Acckk! I can't figure out how to do this with existing neighborhoods. Help.

May I have some more explicit step by step instructions please. I just tied to do this using my existing neighborhood tab and got nowhere. I'm obviously missing the boat.
    1. thegoodknife
you should see a link that says 'Edit Notes or Tags' on your neighborhoods page. check out the second screenshot to see what it looks like.

    Got it! Thanks
I'll publish my post first and then I'll do my neighborhood tagging. This is too cool. I can consolidate everything here at BC that's strung out all over the place now.

Chritopher Walken...cthulhu - those were me.

Do we have the right to shut off allowing others to post tags?

    1. thegoodknife
No, but you can remove people from your neighborhood if you don't want them tagging you.
  10. timethief
Yay! 1 page = 20 blogs done! with both tags and notes.
I love this. I was doing this for myself in a separate file but this is so much better.
  11. crkian

    Edit - Please
    1. thegoodknife

    2. crkian
      Thanks
  12. crpitt
    This is pretty cool.

How do you see what your blog has been tagged with?
    1. thegoodknife
We are going to be adding a page soon that shows all the reviews and tags for your blog.
    2. crpitt
      Ohhhhh excellent
    3. kdawg68
willy needs his own tag for sure!
    4. Anok
      Oh I forgot Willy!
    5. crpitt
Always obsessed with the willy aren't you two.
  13. kdawg68
I've got to figure this thing out. Looks/sounds awesome, but I'm not as savy as some of you guys - and I'm inherently frightened of change.
  14. chrissymarie321
Well I kept meaning to add some neighborhoods...looks like I can even sort them now too. Cool
  15. IZEA
Seems like a great feature! Thanks for the update.
  16. OutsideMyBrain
This is awesome... and so easy! Already tagged over 20 of them with at least 2. Way to go Daniel. This will make it so much easier to use the neighborhood function.
  17. clioandme
Looks like tags help you find certain categories of blogs within your own dashboard. Do they have any meaning beyond that?
  18. barryfromtexas
OK, I forgot to comment here - I ran over and "tagged" my neighborhoods SO, I guess you could say I like the idea
  19. Anok
Sweet! I just tagged the crap out of my neighborhoods
    1. crpitt
I tagged you as 'masked ninja assassin'
    2. Anok
Haha! That is awesome. I think I used doodles and hiking for you

But I've only had two cups of coffee so far
    3. crpitt
Does anyone else see them apart from ourselves?
    4. Anok
      Yeah, you can see them!
    5. crpitt
I will not add 'wears nothing but the mask' then
    6. Anok
      That might boost my ratings....
  20. flamingspinach
    Nice! Thanks for the upgrade.
  21. Teck
    Thanks for the upgrade...

My first reaction, seeing this new feature, was "neat!"

    Second, "great, more work!"

    Then, "this actually looks good."

Now, to see how it works.

    Thanks for the efforts.
    1. Theresa111
      Norski, Get to work!
    2. Norski
Found it, tried it, liked it.
  23. Theresa111
Okay, I got a good start and have been descriptive about 25 of my neighborhoods. If they weren't so darned interesting ... I would be finished already! This is truly a fine feature. Good job.
    1. Norski
      Ditto.
  24. Theresa111
Way cool! Gimme five x 3
    1. thegoodknife
you should see the bump by the end of the week.
    2. Theresa111
I love that dance. Hey tiger 'do the bump ... do the bump' Love that tiger!
  25. riverstyxxx
Since you mention "Neighborhood Tagging", if someone (Not me, of course) were to tag BC on a bridge or a mcdonalds bathroom and send a picture, would that like, do anything?
