SpreadSHREDDER Week 9 ATS: 2-1
SpreadSHREDDER Overall ATS: 18-10
SpreadSHREDDER Week 9 vs. The Total: 1-0
SpreadSHREDDER Overall vs. The Total: 1-0-1
The SpreadSHREDDER went 'Doggy Style' last week and in the process bent over the Oddsmakers for yet another solid week of forecasting, the 7th consecutive non-losing week against the spread. This week, TWO NFL teams make their SpreadSHREDDER debuts as The Las Vegas Nightmare picks the biggest favorite in SpreadSHREDDER history.
Minnesota (-17) over Detroit
The Vikings have had two weeks to prepare for a home game against a Lions team that is still banged up and is boasting a first year coaching staff. The Vikings have the luxury of calling Pat Morris, a former Lions Offensive Line coach, their offensive line coach and his intimate knowledge of The Lions' O-Line will prove to be deadly for Detroit as they match up against an already stacked Vikings D-line.
Injuries along The Lions defensive line will give Brett Favre the time he needs to complete long passes to his 'talented' receivers and will allow Adrian Peterson to dominate at the point of attack. MINNESOTA, 38-17
Cincinnati (+7) over Pittsburgh
Last time we saw Pittsburgh they were dominating the 6-1 Denver Broncos on national television. Good. As a signature franchise coming off of a big win in the spotlight, the value for the opposition couldn't be any better.
It also doesn't hurt that The Steelers will be losing a day of preparation after playing on Monday Night and will be hosting a Bengals team looking to gain an extremely important tiebreaker advantage over the second place Steelers.
The Steelers are -2 in the turnover category, and Cincinnati (+2) will have plenty of chances for turnovers against an aggressive Pittsburgh Passing attack that has attempted the 5th most passes in the league. The Bengals play better as an underdog, and are a great bet for a cover and the win. CINCINNATI, 27-17.
Cleveland (+11) over Baltimore
It should be no surprise that a team with a +30 turnover differential from 07-08 is treading water at .500 in 2009. The Ravens will now play The Cleveland Browns who are coming off of a bye week, playing at home and making a highly publicized switch at quarterback as Brady Quinn will get the start. Brady Quinn and The Browns will be seeking revenge for that week 3 beatdown issued by The Ravens.
Always remember that in the annals NFL history, the home team wins 60 percent of the time and a quarterback switch for the underdog always gives the dog an edge in preparation.
Don't be surprised to see The Ravens get 'upset' and sink under .500 for the first time all season. The Ravens will be in for a dogfight. BALTIMORE, 17-16
Detroit at Minnesota, OVER 47
Once upon a time, The Lions were playing an aberrational 11 points to the over. Since then, Detroit has come back down to earth, yet The Lions' average point total is still at an impressive 46.3, and they have played 3.5 points to the over to this point.
Not to be outdone, The Vikings have averaged a staggering 52.3 point total through 9 weeks of NFL play with Brett Favre, one of this era's greatest and most productive quarterbacks (with every significant offensive passing record in the books), under center. Expect an offensive showcase from both The Vikings and Lions to produce yet another 'over' total for two offensive-minded clubs playing indoors. MINNESOTA, 38-17 (as predicted above)
