I was watching the news this morning, and they were talking about nice places to spend New Year's.

The person being interviewed said he that he thinks the Amangani Hotel in Jackson Hole, WY, is the nicest hotel in the U.S. Has anyone stayed there?

What hotel do YOU think is the nicest in the U.S. Or what is the nicest hotel in the world, in your opinion? For those of you who don't live in the U.S., what is the nicest hotel in your country?

Forgot to mention when I was there in July it was the only hotel in the world that was both five stars and triple diamond rated.

I think that hotels can be awesome like the one in Dubai... although I would doubt it is the best hotel in the world (even if some magazines say so) I just went to Austria for Holidays to a ski resort (nothing fancy really) and what made me love the hotel was mostly the atmosphere of the whole town... everyone gets to know you and you get a very warm feeling, yu are always saying hello to people and people smile at you... (plus the landscape is just breathtaking) That made me think of it as one of the best hotels I have ever been!!

There are in fact many hotels in Norway, Sweden, Finland that have copied the concept, but this is the original.

Hotel ratings are very subjective. My favorite stay ever was at the Campabello Lodge and Bar N Ranch in West Yellowstone, Montana (not that far from Jackson Hole)

Thanks so much for your answers!! I'm going to google all of them and take a look.

I know it's a very subjective topic. But my blog is all about interior design and interior decorating (also very subjective), and I love hotel design. I'm hoping to be introduced to some great hotels that I've never seen or heard of. Thanks!

Why I would have to say the small hotel that I own in the Caribbean www.palmettoculebra.com would have to be the BEST in the world!

A couple of years ago I went there for a family vacation, my dad is an architect and he wanted to stay there for that reason. It is a spectacular place partly due to the building and partly due to the location.

    I stayed in the
Grand Wailea Resort and Spa in Maui it was pretty sweet, and Turtle Bay in Oahu was nice as well.

I stayed at a great hotel in Madrid called the Tryp Menfis. Spacious, reasonablty priced, terrific service and right on Gran Via so it's in the middle of everything. And there's a great tapas bar right next door.

"Nicest" is so subjective. I'm really partial to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but I can't recall ever having received better service than at the Pfister in downtown Milwaukee. I kind of suspect that the "best" in a lot of ways are hidden gems like that one.

My favorite hotel was a seemingly dingy place in Palm Springs. The owners were friendly and involved with the guests. As a result, we were more like a temporary family than tourists. They organized outings, held almost nightly parties and provided a very festive, relaxing atmosphere. Everything was clean, though by no means fancy. And it cost about $40 a night. I'd rather spend another two weeks there than in any other, fancier hotel I've ever patronized.
