If the rain forest disappeared, then climate change that would come after would affect a lot of other countries as well.

Somehow I think the indigenous people, as well as the monkeys and parrots and capybaras may beg to differ with you on that.

it is what the foreign media says, the truth is that a lot of foreing people is buying pieces of rain forest just because there is a lot of wood and mineral resources.

I think, perhaps, that anyone thinking that the rainforest is THEIRS contributes to the issue of the rainforest disappearing.

If it's yours, it's yours to protect and not to destroy.

I would love to live in South America. You got a beautiful country there. Brazil is nice. I also get the soccer games here from Argentina. I am a huge soccer fan. I would fit right in!

I would love to say, yes, the rainforest is something only for Brazilians, but unfortunately, if Brazilians cut the entire rainforest, the entire globe will feel the consequences, so maybe eveyrone in the world is entitled to a little say. Of course, I realise that I am slightly being hypocritical because the actions of myself and many of my countrymen also hurt this planet, and in worse ways than many Brazilians, but I do feel that the environment should be treated on a global level instead of a local level. Everyone has to live on this planet and sometimes a nation does not take into account the hurt it causes elsewhere (Europe is partially responsible for the state of this planet now, but we have the small excuses of not knowing, which doesn't really weigh that much, but still). I know that cutting the forest down is a good way for Brazil to get out of poverty, but the consequences of this should be taken into account by the Brazilian government. The West should of course not act like colonisators and tell you what to do, but we can sum up the consequences of your actions and hope you will listen without spite about our evil misdoings in the past.

Personally i think we belong to the land not the other way round but i understand what you are saying...

There needs to be more renewable ways established now... it's 2008 and they still want to destroy rainforest when there is so much land to grow trees. I think its time all rainforest of old growth areas were protected. Not just here worldwide. And not just for us for our kids and for our water in the future...I mean its a bad enough joke over 85% of the worlds Population has unsafe drinking water.

Of that 85% at least 70% would be from clearing too much land...
I just think its really sad when there is solutions everywhere...

If i had a choice as i think anybody would agree, i would much rather drink clean water, breath nice air and not live in a desert when all the forests are gone...
