Not Even 24 Hours Back

Thanks to those who contacted me during my absence. I've got a lot of things to catch up on, but I'll be in here a little more regular now.

For the last three years I've been the Shipping Manager at Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures. last month they approached me and offered me the second shift supervisor position. They called it a promotion and said it would mean more money, so I had to go for it.

I've been working mad hours, first training someone to take over my job, and then learning some things about actually making metal boxes that I never learned while shipping them. But starting tomorrow afternoon, I'm down to just the one job, and I have more time here and there in cyberspace.

Around the same time I finally went and saw a doc about the problems I've been having with my knees and got diagnosed with osteoarthritis. So I'm doing physical therapy which will continue for a couple more weeks, and exploring my options for dealing with this so I'm not a cripple by the time my kids graduate high school.

First thing I gotta do is drop about about a hundred pounds. I weigh 310 (down from an all time high of 380 about two years ago. I want to be at 200-220 by the end of the year, so all your health nuts and weight loss gurus drop your links on me!

I'm also exploring things like chondroitin and glucosimine (I know I spelled both of those wrong) because I really don't want to be on pain killers as much as they have been prescribed to me, and I won't take them if I have to work in any case.

So that's what I've been up to while I was gone. Good to be back.

Well let's see. How long were you gone? I've started a personal blog, and I've been spending time on Twitter. And my history courses this semester made mad use of a wiki.

By the way, what kind of metal boxes? For what purpose?

Electrical enclosures. The ones they put circuit breakers and control panels and that sort of stuff in. We don't make the household variety though ours are some commercial, but primarily industrial use boxes.
