Ok I have had a little argument with a friend about nudity. I have been to a nudist camp. I do not think there is any problem with human nudity. (as long as it is not openly sexual in mixed company) So my question is would you go to a nudist camp,or beach? Do you have a problem showing off your body in public like that?

Its ok, I know you are really looking

I have no problem with pure nudity. For instance, there is nothing more beautiful than the naked female form in art or photography. It is something to be admired. It is when the female form is exploited that I have a problem with it.

    I wouldn't go to a nudist beach. I'm too self-conscious.

same here... all I need is people calling in Sasquatch citings

I used to go nude swimming all the time in the 60s and 70s. Where I live we had a number of wonderful nude swimming holes. We were always hanging out naked together and it was purely social. But we've gotten older and things have gotten more conservative, so we don't do it as much anymore.
    1. wagerwitch
Do you think people get more conservative as they get older because they don't like their self images?
    2. nothingprofound
We haven't gotten more conservative. The young people have. Most of the old swimming holes have been taken over by them. Some of us have private ponds and we do our nude swimming there.

i would absolutely go to a nude beach (as long as like you say, it's not openly sexual) i LOVE being naked, it's one of my favorite things about having my own apartment...

i went skinny dipping at a secluded beach in italy last summer with some girlfriends, and it felt so great. i would definitely hang out at a nude beach - as long as i didn't get too sandy!
    1. amybyrd21
I too love to live where I do I can do that at the creek and in the house when the kids are gone. Wish we had a pool. (Thinking hard about it just havent convinced my self I want the extra work.)

Nudity is beautiful, It is so sad that America has put such a taboo on nudity.
    1. wagerwitch
      Double agree!

    @Lauren
I'll tan topless in public, but won't walk around naked. I love skinny dipping (not in public though).

    @Agit8r
I'm sure if you had to go nude now in your drunken state, there'll definitely be mysterious Sasquatch sightings LOL. Tell us about it in the morning.
    1. Agit8r
"Um yes Ms. 911 Operator... I have a Sasquatch peeing on my mailbox!"
  7. footiam
I would like to think not.

The nudist camp I went to was really nice. There were over 200 people there on a Saturday. All shapes and sizes and no one cared what you looked like and no one started. It was like family there. No one judged.

But what if YOU wanted to stare??
  9. badbaby
i am sitting here naked right now. It is so much cooler that way.
  10. celticmusicfan
I am vain. i don't want to go around naked with my flab.I really have to work hard before ever doing that.I don't have anything against it. I have seen my friends and family members naked and it no big deal.
  11. varun67
I am not interested in any girl's nudity. It'd convince me the freshness, and its seductiveness.I wouldn't go for a nudes camp or a beach as a nude just i haven't exposed myself in public.I am not a exhibitionist, but i like to show them, who like to see me nude.
    1. legbamel
Why the bloody hell would you post spam about baby pictures in a thread about naked people?!?!?!?! [Please note that the loss of self-control that caused this excess of punctuation was caused by offense at the inappropriate nature of this spam. I'll be okay in a minute.]
  12. kdawg68
My problem with nudist camps is that I really have no interest in seeing over 50-year-olds naked.

Well, that and "taint's" - as I'm guessing one would wind up seeing enough taint's to last a lifetime.

...and for the record, I'm a bit creeped out answering this thread with "cute babies" links up above me.
  13. SweetViolet
I'm 62 and my skin is starting to get crepey.

I'm fat...I am shaped like a squat pear on toothpicks.

I've had 3 pregnancies and have the stretchmarks to prove it.

I've had 3 caesarian sections and the scars to prove it

I've had several other abdominal surgeries, too.

I have that awful milky white natural blonde's complexion...I sunburn before I can get the 100SPF lotion out of my handbag.

Nudist camp or beach? Looking like this? You must be joking!!
    1. wagerwitch
      Exactly that SV...

      That's the whole point.

      THE WHOLE POINT.

      We ARE who we are.

Scars - flubber - stretchmarks and everything.

We are who we are - with everything included.

      YOU _ ME_ HIM_HER

Every single one of us - and you know what - that is what makes us different. No one is better than anyone else.

Your post just made me wonder what the hell we've done to our world, to our society - to ourselves. Why? Why have we allowed ourselves to think so horribly of what we are? Why can't we find the beauty in WHO we are and what we have.

To me SV - you've just described a strong woman who has ENDURED.

But you put it out like an evil, disgusting thing.

      And that bothers me.

Because aren't you a beautiful person?

I so am a nudist at heart - I hate clothes and I'm no beauty queen - I have scars... But I hate having clothes on. They hurt my skin.

So - to think that you feel you are so awful that you would not or could not go to a nudist camp or beach... it made me feel awful.

      Hugs to you.

I think that, if more people spent time around each other nude, people would feel a lot better about their own bodies. It's only seeing the "ideal" naked folks on screen and in magazines that leads people to believe that their bodies are too flawed to be seen. Most people have scars, flab, and birth marks galore. I may not particularly want to see other people naked, but I love to be naked myself and can't wait 'til the kids move out so hubby and I can wander about in our birthday suits again (after changing the locks). Only a dozen or so years to go!

I wear makeup to enhance by best features (eyes) and minimize the worst (bags beneath those eyes).

I spend time finding pretty, lacy brassieres to hoist The Twins back up where they used to live, before gravity found them.

I have my hair cut and styled regularly in an attractive graduated bob.

I buy clothes that skim my body, rather than cling to it, making me look like a 10 lb sausage in a 5 lb casing.

I buy very expensive moisturizer and creams because without them my face dries out and I get dandruff of the forehead and nose and chin.

I am one of those people who, even when I am at my most casual, is colour-coordinated, right down to my earrings "going with" my outfit. I take pride in the fact that, at 62, I am seldom perceived as being over 50 and that comes from two things: not being an "old woman" in my attitudes and keeping myself looking good.

Now why would I want to spoil that by showing off all the parts of me that don't?

There is a time and a place for everything, including a time for discretion and a place for nudity. For me, the time is bedtime and the place is my bedroom!!

(And don't think me a prude...I used to be an exotic dancer and I still go to strip clubs with my husband)
  14. jafabrit
No I wouldn't go to a nudist camp for several reasons, least of it is an issue with nudity (hey I draw a nude model weekly lol).

I think if people enjoy being nude at a camp, around their house or a place that allows nude bathing so be it!
  15. greencurmudgeon
I'm not a natural nudist. Living in the British climate does act as a deterrent. Having leather furniture (my armchair is made of it) is another.
    1. crpitt
Oh this made me laugh, I agree with the weather and I have furniture made from leather.
    2. wagerwitch
Get rid of the leather - get microbfiber ---- ooooooooooh slinky stuff - you'll never put clothes on again! LOL!
    3. greencurmudgeon
      @wagerwitch

By asking me to get naked, you know not what you do.
    4. wagerwitch
      I hate CLOTHES.

      They hurt my skin.

So since I like being nekkie - EVERYONE should be nekkie.

Nothing is more beautiful than my hubby nekkie - and I don't mean that in "that" sex kind of way (although he is fine that way too... LOL!) but just comfortable seeing him (or any human being) reclining, comfortable in their own skin - is beautiful.

And that's how I personally feel about the human body - in all sexes, races, sizes - all of them. we are beautiful...

Uhm... but shut your curtains, eh? at least the ones the neighbor's can stare in...
    5. greencurmudgeon
      @wagerwitch

I don't actually have a neighbour...there is a pub nearby, and I'd rather not that they saw me. However, I've frosted the glass on the ground floor.

Even so, I'm not getting naked.
    6. legbamel
My theory was always that, if you look in other people's windows, you deserve what you see. Then again, we lived on the third floor surrounded by two-story buildings when we had our first child. After that, the naked lounging rather went away. I may be more considerate of the neighbors now that we're all on the ground floor.
  16. bm1sads
    @legbamel

I so agree! I think it would be a wake up call for all those people out there with low self esteem. The human body comes in so many forms and only one type is viewed as beautiful and lets be honest even those go through photoshop.

All those scars, wrinkles and etc. tell your life story. Love who you are. Own it. Be proud.
  17. prodigalson35
would be interesting but no thanks
  18. LolitaV
i am naked most of the time; specially when at home. I have no issues with naked camps or beaches as long as kids are not allowed. because pedophiles would just love to hide in those places. i'd love to go to a nude camp but the kids should stay home.
    1. amybyrd21
I didnt take my kids either but some people did and let them run around unsupervised too. Scary if you ask me.

God was not stupid. God did not forbid and outlaw our knowledge of Truth. Our OWNERS needed to control their population of slaves... and so, the slaves now live without knowing the Truth about their Fragile Life and the Fragile Happiness they are lawfully denied.
    1. wagerwitch
      Say wTf?
    2. BeyondBeliefs
When the Roman Empire Outlawed Humanity, then they set a new course of Human de-evolution.
If our Empirical Holy Owners had outlawed breathing then people would now be in the shadows, doing horrible things to each other in order to breathe without being crusified by the lynch mob of patriotic, holy believers.
When you forbid and outlaw NORMAL, then you CREATE the ABNORMAL.
A STARVING ANIMAL will eat ANYTHING, even its own young.
... even paper centerfolds, staples and all.
  20. melindaville
I go to nude beaches all the time with my husband--we are both comfortable in our own skin (literally).

I used to be an exotic dancer, though--and that pretty much takes care of your inhibitions! You get over your modesty very quickly!
    1. BeyondBeliefs
Seems to me that those who have seen how fragile Human Life and Human happiness actually is, have a far greater respect for it's future well being.

As my old Gran would have said...anything's OK as long as it does not scare the horses!!
    1. sorcerer
      lol!!!!
  22. ArsenicCookies
I've been to nude beaches and anyone who has seen my modeling work knows I am very comfortable in my skin
  23. morgantj
I wouldn't have a problem with exposing myself in a nudist environment if the situation were to arise, but I also have no reason to make an active pursuit to doing so. What is the motivation behind actively going to a nudist camp just to expose yourself? Do you feel liberated in some way or something?
    1. ArsenicCookies
      even tan lines
  24. lordiwanttobewhole
ooooooooh I'm sure others would have an issue with my nudity...haha
  25. HollytheHousewife
Nudist camp NO!! I go skinny dipping all the time, but just with girl friends or my ex when we were together.
  26. laurencefosgate
II've been to the nude beach in Miami Beach and it's really nothing-good or bad. All ages, including families, were there, and I would say the average person was a five, compared to the clothed(topless allowed) section in South Beach where the average is a solid eight. If sexy is the object, skimpy or even just nicely hung clothes are definitely where it's at. It feels great to swim in the nude. The Olympics were conducted in the nude for hundreds of years. If people were nude more often, they might take better care of their bodies instead of their clothes. As Sweet Violet pointed out you can fake it with makeup and clothes, but stripped down, you either have to take care of your body or let everyone see how you've abused it.
