How do you feel about it?

I put a nude photo on my blog today and am catching flack for it. I believe I did it the right way, warning what was in the scroll down.

Did I forever taint myself as a porn blogger?

I know a woman who has nude photographs of herself on her blog--it's a personal blog and she gets over 2,000 unique visitors a day. She writes about a variety of topics, and I wouldn't say she's considered a porn blogger by any stretch. It definitely speaks to a particular audience, though (and steers another away). It's all about knowing your own niche, isn't it?
    1. ekim941
So, if I put up nude photos of myself I will get more traffic?
    2. MadameX
      Well.

      Um.

      You'll get DIFFERENT traffic...
    3. DrowseyMonkey
I say give it a try ekim and see what happens. Let me know too
    4. ekim941
Well, since you put it that way

Oh wait, what are you implying. . . Nevermind, I don't want to know
    5. JaneQCitizen
Let us know if you do, ekim941. I'll take a peek.
    6. Theresa111
Ha ha ha ha ha I'm wiping my eyes!
    7. pointlessbanter
uh can I get her web address?
    8. Theresa111
Kevin ... just click on her name and you will be led there. Nice day.

    Context is everything.

I looked - seemed harmless enough if not just a little 'random'.

I put some pretty risky photos on my blog all the time, and every time I do it I wonder myself. In fact I have a slide show on one blog, that is risky, I guess. But it fits the blog and the content, I think. And for the record, I am NOT a porn blog, just about relationships, and all aspects that go along with it.
  4. HaplessHermit
People are sooooo uptight about nudity in this country.

I have to say though, I'm not "the gay" but I must admit that is a nice butt. Reminds me of myself at 18, oh thems were the days.
  5. DrowseyMonkey
Since when did nudity equal pornography? LOL C'mon!

It's your blog, do what you want with it.

Okay - just looked and that's not nude, just his butt. And I don't think it needed the warning, but it was funny & cute. He is delicious looking
    1. ekim941
Sure, if it was a picture of a woman, you'd be all like, "That's nude, OMG, take that picture down, FREAK!!!"
    2. DrowseyMonkey
lol, um...no I wouldn't. It would take a lot for me to freak when it comes to this kinda stuff.
    3. searchingwithin
Not true Ekim, most of the pictures I have used from time to time, all show more of the woman than the man. The thing I hate the most is that, when ever you watch an R rated movie, you see woman's breasts all the time. Very rare do you see the man exposed, and if you do, you had better have it taped or on DVD, because it comes and goes so fast, you miss the whole thing.
    4. ekim941
But the male body is so utilitarian. The female body is an art form.

      I may just be biased
    5. searchingwithin
@ekim, I beg to differ. I think the male body is an art form. You are biased.
    6. ekim941
      @search- Maybe you're biased
    7. DrowseyMonkey
Well, as a wannabe artist, I have to say I prefer drawing the female body. But I appreciate the male form much more
    8. RTBjr73
DrowseyMonkey , Good for you for saying that!

I am by the way, his "backside double" for pictures...He is so shy, I tell ya
  6. kat822

    1. ekim941
Ummm, Links would be good here.

You never get links when you want them
    2. kat822
      you wanna look?
    3. ekim941
Umm, I'm a guy. Of course
    4. DrowseyMonkey
no, he doesn't wanna see. nope.
    5. ekim941
Don't listen to drowsey, she's trying to be my HGA or whatever.
    6. DrowseyMonkey
hga? What's that mean, am I gonna be offended? Do tell
    7. ekim941
      Human Guardian Angel. I guess
    8. DrowseyMonkey
      Okay ekim ... i guess that's okay.

So was that your backside kat? I'm jealous. Nice azz!

The babies are cute too...and the cat looks like mine, minus the baseball hat, lol.
    9. ekim941
The comments you got are priceless.

      Oh yeah, Nice @ss
    10. kat822
Yeah that was my arse, I have to admit I was a bit tipsy when my girlfriend took it, the babies--- Aiden was my son he died shortly after birth, Lilly is my goddaughter she is priceless
    11. ekim941
Wow, I'm sorry to hear about Aiden. that can't be easy.
    12. kat822
Thanks ekime, I appreciate it....but it is what it is, I deal with it as best I can I have my good and bad days.
  7. searchingwithin
Wow, can I copy your picture. Love it, and it is not in the least porn. Some people are beyond reasonable. If that bothers them they had better close all their blinds, and lock all their doors, and live that way.
    1. JaneQCitizen
Sure, copy it. Could you link back to me?
    1. kat822
Ummm I have one thing to say Jane
      Bow chicka bow wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
    2. JaneQCitizen
Let me know -- I'd like to return the favor of linking to you, too.
  8. acousticguitarist
    No

The best place for nudity is swimming in the ocean or river, or in bed

Although if you blogged about cocoanut oil all it's not a bad idea
    1. searchingwithin
Okay, you have stars and wishful thinking going on in my mind.
    2. acousticguitarist
Not sure what that means.. I live near beautiful beaches
  9. Anniepooh
    So ... it's um, I'm such a prude ... it was tasteful.
    1. Theresa111
Most of the time I am too.
  10. cooper
That wasn't really really nude, so I imagine it depends on the audience and context of your blog.
If I all of a sudden posted a nude picture on my blog it would be a little out of place for sure.
    1. ekim941
No. Just put it on your about me page.

Don't forget to send me the link
Has to be "About you" though
  11. mitch972
I don't see the problem. I've had nude pics on my blog. I even posted the Lindsey Lohan pics. Maybe I don't have enough traffic to get any flack..lol
  12. thenibblers
We have yet to put any completely nude pics up on our blog yet. Although there are plenty of what I would call "classy sexy" shots of Mrs. Gentlenibbles and some of our friends all over the place. Our Header is her in her bra and panties.

Then again, our audience usually does not have that much problem with a little "classy sexy" or nudity every now and then...lol

I don't consider us "pornbloggers" at all. Now I am curious, are we considered porn bloggers?
    1. kat822
well let me check it out lol
    2. kat822
Nahhhhhhhhhh but can I make a constructive critisim? Update the pic of the Mrs and have her in a matching set of bra and panties
  13. psychosolodiver
So, what's the URL to this blog? Let me check it out!
    1. kat822
who's the nibblers ? just click on the icon, and follow to the profile page and click away ...wow I didn't know divers could be psycho...there is a thread called who should be institutionalized you might want to visit lol
  14. crpitt
I think its a rather nice photograph
    1. timethief
I do too. It's not porn. It's an art photo and lol as art model myself I'd better know the difference.
  15. whojaybe
It all depends because if you know your audience (or your targeted audience) are people under 18, then you probably shouldn't put it on there. But it's hard to say, I think most people put a censored picture with a link saying "click here to see uncensored image" or something.
  16. thenibblers
    Sorry Psycho

Here is the blog, if you have not got it yet

    www.gentlenibbles.com
  17. timethief
    @thenibblers
I agree with Kat. I think you need a new header with matching lingerie. It's a swingers blog - encouraging partner switching stuff. MEH I also think you could choose a better background color for the header too but then what can I say? I'm a nit picky artist.

Setting that aside, I could see no porno images at least from what I glanced at but I just zoomed through the front page. It does not appear to depict cheesecake, beefcake or human sexual activity. If it does contain those things then it would cross the line and the ToS of the host would have to be very carefully examined. Most web hosts do not accept porno. The number of masturbators looking for wank off material make such blogs resource hogs so shared hosting isn't easy to find.
    1. thenibblers
      @timethief

After viewing your thistimethisspace blog, I take your opinions on art very close. Your header on that blog is awesome. Did you do it yourself?
  18. thenibblers
    lol

    My feelings are getting hurt...

We don't have any panties that match the shine on the bra.... I don't think it would look near as good in the photograph, but I am the man I will take that up with Mrs. G and get back to you!
    1. kat822
I am not meaning to hurt your feelings lol I just think there's nothing sexier than a matching set, I personally only wear the matching stuff love that victoria's secret stuff as far as all that other gobblie goop about TOs and hosts well what ever
    2. thenibblers
      Kat822

We got a kid free getaway this weekend with some friends, maybe we will go shopping for a matching set and have a little photoshoot. Who knows what next Monday will bring...

    1. timethief
      @ttiger
      nudity=traffic=money SOMETIMES

If and only if you either have your own server or you are fortunate enough to find a web host with a ToS that has the sever capacity required (do be prepared to pay the high web hosting fees), otherwise on shared hosting you simply end up with very little cash, a site that's frequently off line, mountains of spam, trolls and perverts that stalk you.
    2. kat822
you say that like it's a bad thing tt lol
    3. ttiger
rule No.1 in internet business : you should always own your own bandwidth and server and domain name
  20. lisamcglaun
Actually I think that is a beautiful photo. But I'm from Vegas. I guess I'm used to billboards and ads that show behinds. And he has a very nice one.
    1. TheMrs
      Indeed he does.
    2. timethief
      I likewise approve.
    3. searchingwithin
      Yes, indeed he does.
  21. lovecrunchies
Well I'm only 16 so I won't visit your blog (I won't know how the picture looks like)! I think that it's alright to post nude photographs of yourself/others as long as you give a mention that viewers under a certain age should practice some self awareness, and that you're not promoting pornography.
  22. searchingwithin
Ya, know now that I think about it, after viewing it, and going back just in case I might have missed some key points, possibly you gave too much warning. To much scroll down. Anyone viewing it, knew without a shadow of a doubt that you felt guilty, and so, they monopolized on your own feelings. There is nothing wrong with that photograph, but then let me run back in there to take just one last look to make absolutely sure.
  23. mattclark
I'm a wannabe pornstar, or at least a wannabe pimp so I don't see anything wrong with nudity or adult oriented sites. The big problem is that if people like us actually read porn sites it politically incorrect to blogroll them or even talk about them.
    1. RTBjr73
you think THAt is bad, you should have seen all the flack that I got a month ago when I answered yes to the question "would you consider running a porn site to make money"

My butt got tanned in the public forum...haha
  24. searchingwithin
Damn, am I being Politically incorrect again? What a shame.
  25. alovelything
Good heavens, JANE! You are a mighty bad influence on me I like it!

About Josh, his sexy lips were enough to send me into a frenzy. I didn't need anymore encouragement.
    1. JaneQCitizen
I do what I can to contribute to your delinquency, Lovely.
  26. richrf
Well, let's just say that putting nudity on a site, will certainly generate some extra, though ephemeral, traffic. Especially if it is announced. However, there is lots of competition for nude traffic, so I think that the short term gains are probably not worth it, unless your blog is looking specifically for that kind of traffic - i.e. either artists who are looking to examine the nature of nudity, or .... the other type of visitor.
  27. jafabrit
WEll some might consider it rude, like autoplay music, but no one is forcing people to go to your blog, read your blog OR scroll down after the warning and see a photo of a very nice bum.
    1. RTBjr73
jafabrit...now THAT is the way to cover two threads at one day...you rock!!!
  28. ChicaX
I've seen people post pictures of themselves, completely nude. I'm talking non artistic photos, unphotoshopped at that. It was some sort of therapy for them.

As for what your talking about, I find no offense in nudity, in fact welcome it at certain times. If people don't want to see it, them they can click out of your blog, there is no need for people to give you flack about it.
  29. Lieblingartcrafts
Go for it Jane - I viewed that very photo and it's not even full frontal.

Nothing to be worried about. Your blog is not for kiddies anyway! Rock the man candy is what I say.
    1. JaneQCitizen
"Man Candy" -- that is PERFECT for a category label I was going to use Kat's Bow chicka bow wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww remark, but it was too long.
    2. kat822
man candy is good but I still love the Bow Chicka Bow WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
  30. thebigandyt
porn blog! no way. If you use the internet, you stumble across things way more graphic then that. yesterday i was trying to find out info about an old central heating controller. the only link i could find most definatly will not increase my knowledge of antiquated house hold bits
  31. lordlikely
I consider nudity to be almost mandatory on my web-log.
  32. ArtmodelNYC
I've had some trouble (not much) with my blog and it's not even nude photos. They are nude life drawings of me done in art classes. My blog has been labeled "pornography" once, which it definitely is not. And another site pulled down a post I submitted with a nude drawing of me. But then it got straightened out when the admin finally READ the blog in its entirety.

There is a nice drawing of me posted on my blog right now that i can't imagine anyone classifying as "porn"!
  33. iriegal
I don't think you would be considered a "nude" blogger....a POPULAR BLOGGER...but not so much porn.

Just be you, why you worried about it. People love unique people
  34. chilly
Just had a look. So what, it's nothing but a mans ass!
IMO, Your far from doing wrong, but then again, total nudes don't bother me.

Hey! It's your blog, post what you want. No one is twisting anyones arm to make them look. Just the way I look at it.
  35. franxbudi
I think is depend on the person...If you think nude picture on the blog will attract a traffic why so many porn blog still get low traffic
  36. TheMrs
    bad chicken bad cow

    (say it aloud)
  37. accidentalsexiness
I post partial nudes of people if they are in magazines. I don't consider it pornography. I posted these pictures from a magazine spread that got linked by a major publication in the Netherlands, I got about 60,000 hits in one day!
