The best pizza will be debated for ever, just like the best egg creams used to be.

But some say Difara's is best slice
    you can see video here
    ilovethecook.com/

But best squares is Vic's on Kings Highway and west 7th street.
    1. TonyB
@Rozie818, how do you get to Difara's from Manhattan? The subway?

What 3 things would you say are Must Do things when visiting NYC for a couple of days.

Husband says "jump off the Brooklyn Bridge" and that takes care of the other two... :o) (he's from Manhattan)

      I say:

      1. Empire State Building
      2. See a broadway play
      3. Pastrami sandwich from either Stage or Carnegie deli
    3. TonyB
      I like your husband. LOL

      What's good on broadway?

Orginally from the Bronx.....but I remember we used to look at Brooklyn when we drove through...

Pizza was invented in New York and just eaten by Italians at first. Then everyone started eating it. So the best pizza nationwide is in New York.

I am from Brooklyn and Italian! I don't remember the best pizza here. It is though in NYC. I don't recall the name. It was on the Travel channel once I think.

I was in El Paso the other day and had a really great pizza. So even though New York had the first pizza...and still some really great pizzas..you can find great pizzas all over the country.

      NY pizza is exceptional.

We have a pizza place in Alexandria that's comparable to the NY pizza we've had there. Only thing is, they overbake it, so you have to order it "lightly baked" then it's perfect...cheese swimming in a great sauce and it's foldable!

But when the Italians came here from Italy, they lived in NYC and opened the pizza shops there. The first pizza store in the country started there. I would go where it all started first.

The same as going to Chinatown in NYC for the best Chinese food. NYC is where most people migrated to when they came here. That is why the food is so good.

Why are people so passionate about pizza?
    1. ShopperDiva
it's just that good and simple!

I think pizza is a great food. Have you ever heard anyone getting tired of pizza? It is also the art of cooking it. You have so many places that make pizza that looks and taste like cardboard, when you hit the best one, it is really great.

If you have never had it before, try meatball pizza when you go. I told a friend once to try it that never had it before, it was like she was in heaven ha. I am sure that place I mentioned above makes a great meatball topping pizza.

Tony take the D train to ave J walk to corner and your there.
Then you can take the bus to bay parkway and 68th street walk a few blocks over to Kings highway and have a few squares at Vic's.

3 must see things in NY
    1) If your there for the holidays see the tree at rock center
    2) central park
    3) get tickets for Letterman

    First Pizza in city was...
in 1897 an Italian immigrant reinvented a Napoletana staple food into one of the worlds most eaten foods. New York City was the birth place of New York style pizza. During the year of 1905, Lombardi's was licensed by the City of New York, becoming America's First Pizzeria.

Over 100 years and still coveted as one of the Best Pizzeria's in the United States. Highly regarded and rated as the Best of New York , a City of Pizzeria's.
