Have u experienced office politics at your work place?
I feel a little agitated when I see that people are more bothered about - who said what, how to quote him/her, writing rude emails, Offloading work to others, impressing the who's who etc.... rather than doing what they are being paid for.
What surprises more is that many times these type of people are the rewarded ones too. Ugh!
How do you handle this?

Far too many people put up with bad work environments. If you are noticing these kinds of problems, GET OUT. It isn't worth it, in my opinion.
I once dealt with a pretty hostile working environment. Office Space became less funny to me, since I could relate to it very much. I think the company has either dissolved or been bought out/moved, etc... and I can understand why.-
It's not all that bad (till now).
But, I find it difficult to spare my time wondering what would X-person think if I email like this or is Y-person back-biting using the info I shared with him/her during coffee-chat....
I would rather utilize my time doing the work which I'm the best at. Alas, I've realized it's not so in most organizations.

It's very common and the larger the place the more common. If it gets to the point of being illegal then you should document and take action. Most of the time it's not something you can actually prove caused a promotion or firing.
Avoid joining in, it will come back to bite you someday. -
Office politics is about management technique
In other words, manipulation and calculation to turn one against another for better survival -
I'm not currently employed, but the office politics was the thing that I found the most difficult about working.
I worked in production for a local tv station for about five years and I experienced much less 'politics' there than any of my previous jobs. I'm left with good feelings from my time there.
