I'm considering the idea to become an organ donor but I haven't confirmed it yet.

What are your thoughts on organ donation?

Do we have an organ donor in BC community?

Regards,

JJ

It's very courageous as I confess I will never consider doing this myself except in extreme cases for saving a close-member family life. I'm too sensitive to physical pains either others or mine. I am very carefull to never do anything to be injured myself and require such sacrifice from someone in my family.

Actually most organ donors, like myself, aren't really doing anything courageous. When I die, the hospital's welcome to take any parts they can use. Until then, they're mine.

As for organ transplants when you're still alive, as with kidneys or parts of the liver, that's a somewhat different matter, though generally you only do it for a close blood relative anyway, since otherwise the organ's likely to be rejected.

Darn it, I didn't see the old thread (2008) regarding to this matter. My mistake.

One thing that makes me slightly hesitate is where my organs will end up. I know this sound ridiculous but the last thing I want is to give my organs to racist, bigot etc. type of people.

Personally I like the idea of being cremated then being buried. Hence, one of the reasons why I considering to become an organ donor.

I am an organ donor. The way I see it, those racists, bigots who get my organs will have to live with the knowledge that a little Asian girl saved their lives.

Besides, I like to think that all it takes is one person to open the eyes of someone who lives in ignorance.

hahahaha! an act of kindness and generosity with a vengeful, but morally-guided intention...that's brilliant.

I think it's a great idea , I want to be an organ donor when I'm older ,

About the person that the organ is going to , well , you whould have done a good thing and you aren't responsible for what he do with it , because your intention is good , also think about the good lives you'll save .

An organ donor can be buried , I think .

I am already an organ donor. The idea that I can help save lives is more important than anything else...

I agree that saving a life is the main thing.

You aren't around to worry about who's got your organs unless you donate something while you're still living, in which case I'd guess there's often a relationship motivation anyway.

I'm a donor, as well--for transplantation, not research. I won't be using the equipment when I'm gone, so why NOT give it to someone desperately in need of it?

I donate my organ to over 25 women in over 21 clubs.
    I'm caring and a stud.

Be careful none of them takes it literally and tries to cut your organ off. You'd definitely be out to grass then.

It is a great idea and a great service as well. In India many people have started to donate organs especially the eyes.

    I'm an organ donor.

    It's not a big deal.

They don't take anything until you're dead.

Very often, potential organ donors are treated as "organs" rather than "persons"
